what makes the most sense..

I know this has been discussed, but a conference made up of:
Liberty
ODU
Appy St.
James Madison
GA Southern
UNC Charlotte(until they move to Conf USA)
Jacksonville
?????????

Within 3 years this conference would be stronger than the Sun Belt or the MAC. Travel costs would be low with some great rivalries. What's the process of adding a new conference?

Right now there is no process. It is against NCAA bylaws. Otherwise something like this would already exist. Sadly the only way this could happen now is through a lawsuit against the NCAA (which remains in play) or through an existing conference to be used as an intermediary for a few years before splitting back into two conferences.

Sly why couldn't the teams mentioned go to the WAC and basically propose a business agreement and agree to an entry fee, stay under the WAC for a short time and then break off into a new commence? It would be a win win. The MA
C would get some cash infusion..

Do a search on here for VACONN I have been yelling this for years. What you recommended about the WAC is a loophole that could work.

If I was a debt ridden state (which we're far better than most) I'd get involved in this and be the states hero!

Actually I believe there needs to be a core group of four to even qualify for an exemption from NCAA. The suits in Indy could be generous but if they are going to do that it'd be better for everyone outside of Las Cruces & Moscow to just let CAA move up to take the space. But NCAA rarely does what makes sense.

I definitely proposed this in a previous thread and I think some others have similar ideas. Right now, everything is just up in the air. Tomorrow, we could a member of the Sun-Belt or it might not happen for another 10 years. No one really knows how the realignment will play out. Suggestions like these seem to be favorable here but nothing really matters unless it's being discussed by other school/conference officials.

Sorry for the spelling errors in my post. My phone often has a mind of it's own. In regards to this conversation, if a deal was ever brokered how much do you think Liberty would invest as an entrance fee into a conference if that's what it took. I think donors would come out of the wood work.

The good news is we have the ability to spend whatever we really want to spend, without having to tap into donor's. It's just a matter of what value we put on it.
