Bye Bye Stony Brook and Coastal?

I’m assuming that one of the two maybe leaving the “little” South Conference for the CAA. My bet it will be Stony due to the strong academics, solid team lacrosse, decent basketball and recent performance in football. App State would not leave the SoCon for the CAA. Fordham would be solid for football only because there declared eligible for the Patriot League due the decision to offer scholarships for football. I just hope we’re able to jump to another league, hopefully FBS (MAC, Sunbelt) real soon.

But on the other hand if JMU, Delaware, bolt for the CUSA/MWC, MAC or whatever it will be a “wrap” for the conference.

I think most of us have predicted Stony Brook to the CAA eventually, but I don't think those 2 basketball schools leaving has anything to do with it.

Hard to say what the CAA will do, but if GMU and VCU leave they are on life support so all theories are open

If they get in before Liberty, it would be a shame... While we're talking about the CAA, do you think Liberty would take a spot in the CAA with the promise (or effort) by the football schools to move up together within 3-5 years? I think playing in the CAA would improve our athletic profile tremendously. I would take an offer from the CAA because the Sun Belt is focused of tv markets right now and the MAC is in no hurry to expand. Thoughts anyone?

Because we have it made it clear we intend to move up - we would be unattractive to another FCS conference. The CAA moving up together is not likely. Even the more ready times (jmu and odu) seem to have significant reservations about taking the next step to move up.
