Been a frenetic first half. Rivers shoots too much. Carolina will win tonite. Duke will win at The Cathedral

Carolina's perimeter defense is awful.

Duke doesn't play interior defense, UNC doesn't play perimeter defense. Ugly defense all around.

I'm not going to miss seeing Tyler Zellar on the floor for UNC. He's always killed Duke.

Tried to explain to Mrs. Cider the GTHC acronym. After watching a few minutes of the game with me, she asked, "which one is going to hell?"

Get used to seeing that shot. It will be in every Carolina/Duke montage from now until forever.

Yep. The Jeff Capel shot has been during used every game they've played since '95 and that one was to send the game to double OT, where his team lost. This one isn't going anywhere. I imagine we'll be seeing this one for the rest of our lives.

Tip of the cap. Didn't like the outcome, but another game like this is but one of many in this storied series. There's a reason this is the best rivalry.

Stat I found yesterday:

"With seven national titles and 20 Final Fours in the 64-team NCAA Tournament era, Duke and UNC have had more playoff success than any other CONFERENCE."

UNC proves once again how they are soft both physically and mentally. Wonder how many more L's it will take before ESPN/media stops slurping all over them about being a NCAA Title contender?

Perhaps because the media understands that those are two things that a team can turn around, and if they do, they are legit.

If he was still here things would be much, much different so its impossible to really judge. I mean, yes, Duke is better for his basketball career but to say we would be 300+ in the RPI if he was still here would be far from accurate in my opinion

I want to wait until the end of his college career before we start that thread. But as of today, I just don't see it.

I agree with Coach K when he said That's a heck of a team over there. He then basically said UNC was a better and more talented team then Duke. As much as I love Duke, I have to agree. The Devils got hot at the right time. I thought for sure UNC would win by double digits.

Duke gets really good players all the time but rarely do they get elite talent that you see at UNC, UK, KU etc. But they still win these games regularly. It really speaks to coach K's ability imo. Love or hate him but you can't argue with his results.

Softness is a mental weakness, you don't go from soft to tough in the middle of a season. UNC had the same softness issues last year. It's not something someone just turns on and off. If a player is soft he is soft for life unless someone comes in and forces them to change. That person isn't walking through the door at UNC this year...
