Super Bowl 46

Giants knock off the Patriots 21-17 and Gronkowski, bad ankle and all, just misses what would have been one of the greatest catches in football history at the end.

Eli Manning is certainly going to be in the Hall of Fame discussion after a performance like tonight...I said to a friend on facebook that whether he gets in first ballot will depend on who all else is in the candidate pool when his turn comes up, especially first year eligible players

Who cares about the game! Let's talk commercials! Every guy will now be ordering Teleflora and trying to find the closest Fiat dealer!

Forget the commercials, let's talk about Haize's new avatar!

It's amazing what the Patriots were able to accomplish with no running game, no pass rush, and no secondary. And in the end, it was their receivers who let them down. It was a shame, Gronkowski couldn't run at all, that was huge.

The whole thing is just a little dissappointing for me, because the Giants really aren't that great of a team.

And the Patriots really could have used Andre Carter, maybe even Haynesworth. I just don't understand their personnel decisions at all.

The last two minutes were interesting. Really a chess match. I was thinking, when it was probably 85 percent apparent that the Giants were going to score and take the lead with about two minutes to go (a turnover or missed field goal very unlikely), it would be wise to go ahead and let the Giants score. As it was, still smart to allow it with 57 seconds left but the extra time could have made a difference for the Pats. I still haven't figured out exactly what Bradshaw was trying to do when he stalled at the goal line.

He was trying to pull a Rashad. But he hesitated too long and it was too late.

Fun finish. If Brady had retired 2 years ago, he might have gone down as the most clutch QB ever. Now, not so much. But he was awesome in the 1st half.

i was glad to see Patroits lose. since Bellicheck got caught cheating a few years back, they have not been able to win a super bowl.

my guess is that they had talked about not scoring on the previous play because the pats were going to let them. And then they played real defense. And then the following play when they did let them score, it wasn't in the forefront of Bradshaw's mind and it's pretty hard to stop the internal drive of getting into the endzone to take the lead in the last minute of the superbowl. So you saw a battle of mind vs instinct and I think instinct won. I can also read the mind of dogs and squirrels.

There isnt any guarantee that if he had successfully downed himself at the 1, that they would have gotten in or even hit the field goal (Just ask Billy Cundiff). Tynes had barely made the two field goals prior to that TD

LUConn, I think you're right. I think he freaked out at the last second, was torn as to what to do and tried to make a split-second decision which made him look all the more goofy. BJ, totally agree that if he had downed himself it opens the door for something freaky happening, and that would have been tough to live with. You can't pass up a go-ahead TD even if the other team wants you to go ahead and score.

its an extra point. the smart move is the percentages. the pats can move the ball 90 yards in a minute. they've done it before. without ANY timeouts. moving 60 yards in 20 seconds with no timeouts is near impossible and requires multiple gaffs on the defenses part.

it worked out. its all a gamble and nothing is certain. if the pats score, its one of the biggest gaffs in superbowl history.

I heard on the radio today that the Giants hadn't discussed not scoring on purpose and that after Eli handed the ball off, he yelled to Bradshaw to not go in but he couldn't stop himself.
