Why doesn't a "Sport" major exist?

I think it's dumb for a future NFL pro-bowler to have to pretend that he's smart enough to be in college. Sure a lot of guys are smart enough, but what about someone who isn't? You can't get to the NFL without playing some type of college ball (cue BJ with some stupid example of someone who did that) but not everybody is college material. Why don't they have majors for people who plan to be professional athletes? It could include classes like, personal finance, anatomy, kinesiology, coaching, contract law, etc. Overview type classes that would help some of these guys out. We could all stop pretending that these guys are in a 3 year sociology program.

Well there's a few options. Arena football and the CFL come to mind.

It's an interesting thing to note though.

It is. a major like that would combine part health science, part business, part pre-law, and part sport management (which I guess in the eyes of some would be what such a major would fall under)

A lot of that stuff falls under sport management depending on what school you go to.

How many students would this really be necessary for? Yes, there are a few players who are only in college because they have to be there before going pro...but that's a very small percentage of players on only a small percentage of the the teams to begin with. And that makes up such a small part of the total student population, why make a whole major just for those few students that this would cater to?
