Associated Press wrote:Nelda Blair, chair of the school's board of regents, announced that Houston plans to build a new football stadium and officials hope to break ground within 10 months.
Rhoades said they have about $60 million pledged for the stadium and that they'll need between $80 million and $85 million to build it.
The Cougars currently play in Robertson Stadium, a 32,000-seat stadium that opened in 1942.
They'll demolish that stadium and build the new one on the same site, which could leave the team without a home stadium for as long as a season. Where they would play during construction hasn't been determined, but Rhoades said they've had discussions with officials of Reliant Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans.
They expect the new stadium to be ready for the start of the 2014 season.

UH officials floated the idea of replacing Robertson a year ago in hopes of enticing the Big XII to let them in. Ever since the Big east discussions began several months ago, this stadium announcement has been highly speculated.
Just a decade ago the school spent some significant jack to renovate the place in order to move their home games back from the Astrodome. The stadium itself has a really cool atmosphere from the stands. You see the downtown skyline out of the north endzone. But the infrastructure beneath the stands is clearly antiquated. Restrooms & concessions are awful.
The Cougars have shared the stadium with the Houston Dynamo up until now. The Dynamo move into their new stadium in a few months that they now share with the SWAC's Texas Southern University. Yeah, politics forced that one.

Looks like it wasn't enough to keep Sumlin away from aTm.

Sumlin to Aggieland has been assumed since the moment to board of regents forced the AD to fire Sherman. It makes too much sense.
He's going to have a decent rebuilding process as they enter the nasty SEC West. Pooooor Aggy.
