THere's a difference between a closed door scrimmage and an exhibition you know...

And dook barely beat powerhouse Shaw...80-66.

As much as I would love for dook to have a craptastic season, you can't put too much stock into these exhibition games. They're more of something for rival fans to sling back and forth before they play each other.

stats are kept for exhibition games and scrimmage games, just not released for scrimmage games.

You are right. Stats do not have to be kept for scrimmages. I guess a better way to word it is that stats can be and often are kept for scrimmages.
