No other explanation. Wilson does not need spring practice. He is a football genius. Thank you NCSU Dummies. Go Badgers

Yeah Wisconsin looks really good. They will be undefeated as long as they stay healthy. I'm pulling for them as I'm a Russell Wilson fan.

I hope Coach O'Brien has started cleaning his desk out after this one...

So you're willing to fire him over this, but Rocco is more than safe despite what goes on on the mountain...

Hmm.

The difference is that 1) Coach Rocco didnt allow half their offense to transfer to the B1G 2) Other than last year, the Wolfpack have not exactly been overly successful under Coach O'Brien 3) They dont even have a SHARED conference title much less an outright conference title

They also play in a real conference.

And I'd not be happy if one of my guys was planning on skipping out on pre-season activities and not be a member of the team in that way. It's a tough decision, but it's one he made. It's the Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers situation.

And some would say Liberty hasn't been "overly successful" either. A win over Elon and a win over Ball State aren't exactly worth writing home about.

Just trying to figure out how you justify it, tho.

Really it boils down to a couple things

1. Wins. In 4 seasons the Wolfpack have won 5, 6, 5, and 9 games, earned their first and only winning season last year. Despite the issues againt ranked teams, Danny Rocco has never had a losing season (in fact I think this is the first year we will finish below .500 OOC

2. Russell Wilson. I'll grant that he didnt need to act like a total diva and skip out on spring ball (although he has shown that he still is an all0american caliber QB and probably could get a decent draft day position). Now if Glennon had put up some better numbers and NC State was off to a better start, then this wouldnt be as much an issue

Classic. So a coach shows some integrity and has a 9 win season and you are ready to show him the door. He is behind a little because he wasn't planning on having to replace a QB and you sorta have to plan that during recruiting. I say give him another year but don't think he will get it. Maybe we can swap coaches?!

You guys act as if Beej is the only person wanting O'Brien out the door.

And you can't compare the Liberty/NCState coaching jobs. Apples and oranges.

1. Again, we play in a joke conference (against teams who lose to DII's and DIII's) and we play DII's on a regular basis, along with DI cupcakes. Records are deceiving. He plays in the ACC, a BCS conference.

2. So that's on Glennon, not the coach. Coach just needs to reload and try again. If he gets the chance.

If TOB did not understand his QB well enough to know he would be fine without Spring practice ( he was recruited to play both football and baseball but few coaches honor that), he is a subpar judge of talent and that is unacceptable in big-time football where it is one of the most important abilities at a school that never will get lots of top players. They had a star and could not accept that he did not need their military style rules to succeed at the highest level. He learned the entire complex UW playbook in a month. Now he is making play suggestions to use all the talent he now has around him even better. I hope that after he explores the pros he comes back to UW to start as a coach. He's a natural leader and motivator. Never seen anything like him.

You make a lot of valid points. However, I'm thinking the UW playbook isn't that extensive for a QB to learn. They rely on the Big Uglies for most of their success and in that part of the country where corn beef and dairy or king, they get a lot of those!
Taking nothing away from Wilson, he adds another dimension to an already really good team.
