According to a source within the James Madison football program, JMU starting quarterback Justin Thorpe has been suspended five games for failing a drug test.
Three other players have been suspended as well, but it has not been determined how many games they will miss.
Thorpe, who was 3-4 with 69 yards and a touchdown along with 81 rushing yards in Saturday night's upset win over William and Mary 20-14, is a repeat offender of this violation, prompting the five games suspension. Check back with more details to follow.

Now Mickey is saying he's been suspended "indefinitely."

indefinitely is probably one of the most nebulous words that can be used in this case...it could be 1 game, 3, 5, the rest of the rest of the season (including playoffs)...how long it goes is up to the coach (and the circumstances surrounding the case)

Our policy mandates he be suspended for at least 5 games (it actually says 50% of the championship season, so I'm guessing they round down), but the coach has discretion to impose further penalties if warranted.

Too bad. Never fun to see this stuff as a fan. It does add to the traffic on your board, though.

Are you sure that you are taking that from the most recent handbook? They have been known to change in mid year.
Sorry it happened.

we could use his leadership on our team and I think we have a guy on the defensive side of the ball with the credentials to take him under his wing...win, win, win for all!

They could car pool and he could have his suspension shortened by 2 games!

I mean, we will need somebody to replace Mike Brown next year, right?

Sorry to see him in trouble. I was pretty impressed with him when he played us (except for when he completely missed a wide open receiver on his way to doing jumping jacks in the endzone). Hope he gets things turned around for JMU. I want them to win out so we can beat them in the playoffs.
