Does anyone know about a new facility that was supposed to be announced back on the 15th?
One of the CSU faithful mentioned it in a post regarding their media day, but there has been nothing since.

CSU guy BJuice on FCS wrote:One of the day’s highlights was Director of Athletics Hank Small’s announcement of the new football and track & field facility to be built this season. The ground-breaking ceremony will be held during the University’s Homecoming Weekend on October 1. The Buccaneers will host Wesley College at 1:30 p.m. that weekend. The official announcement regarding the new facility will occur on Monday, August 15.
interesting. Wondering how an entire football + track & field "facility" will be built in one season. Guess we'll have to wait and see until Oct 1 as their board is D..E...A...D dead.

I'm sure it just a ground breaking ceremony and will be ready for the 2012 season. Props to Chuck South for stepping up and making some needed upgrades.

Charleston Southern University president Dr. Jairy Hunter, along with Vice-President for Student Affairs and Athletics Dr. Rick Brewer and Director of Athletics Hank Small have announced that the University will break ground for a new athletic center in October.

The ground breaking will take place on October 1 as part of the University’s annual Homecoming celebration.

The new facility will feature football and track & field locker rooms. It will also boast an athletic training center, and will be located between Buccaneer Stadium and Buccaneer Field House. The facility is the first part of a multi-stage project involving renovations to athletic facilities.

“The Athletic Center represents significant progress for CSU’s NCAA D-1 athletic program, specifically the university’s commitment to student-athlete welfare and success,” says Brewer. “We are excited about the construction of this anchor facility for two additional facilities to be built in the future. Once completed, this 3-building complex will provide in excess of 24,000 square foot space for locker rooms, meeting areas, coaches’ offices, and a state of the art weight/training facility. The Athletic Center advances CSU’s athletic program goal of providing a competitive NCAA experience built upon a commitment to developing student-athletes academically, athletically, and spiritually.”

Fellow Hall of Famer Marc Embler is also excited about the project. Embler, a member of the class 1979, was inducted into the CSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002 for track & field. He is currently a professor of criminal justice at the University.

Wow, that looks to be the size of LU's original football locker room, before the FOC and the Tower were built. I wonder where CSU was changing clothes before that was built?

I'm shocked they just didn't pull up a trailer and call it a day...

It hasn't been built yet. Ground just now being broken. Both teams walk about six minutes to the CSU Field House to change. It's really a terrible setup.

off topic a bit... but I've been checking their board to see any news... I think it's not long for this world.

they've even changed the header- I kid you not. http://chucksouthfans.com/index.php?sid ... 8cfa28a233

not a post since Feb, and nothing in FB this SEASON. Wondering if they have another site?

I've noticed that, too - we've been making fun of it in our Smack forum. I don't know of any other CSU fan forum, though - there's only three or four of them that I know of on AGS or CS.com, so I imagine they've all retreated from the Interwebs.

We did have one, bucgrad05, that was a regular on our forum until I had to ban him for posting personal information about one of our posters & accusing the same poster of being a pedophile. There's smack talk, and then there's that, LoL.

That guy was over the top. I hope he is still sane after the start CSU has had this year.
