Virginia basketball holiday tournament

On Wednesday morning at the Coliseum, the governor’s office will announce a pair of doubleheaders involving state teams, one in December 2012 and another in December 2013. The University of Virginia in 2012 will meet Old Dominion University, and in 2013, Virginia Tech will play Virginia Commonwealth University. Also, the University of Richmond and George Mason will meet in 2012. James Madison University will play Hampton University in 2013.

Yeah I'm curious why we're not included either. I mean Hampton? Maybe if this thing continues more than 2 years we'll get included.
You know UVA, Va Tech, VCU, and Richmond will be included. George Mason and ODU are the next most worthy candidates. After that it's really up in the air. JMU will bring a lot of fans so I can understand that. Maybe the last 2 slots can be rotated between JMU, Hampton, LU, Radford, VMI, W&M.

If Hampton weren't in it I would think it would just be a virginia public school thing.

Richmond is also a hometown draw. hampton was probably picked because they are an HBCU that has had some success in the dance whereas norfolk state has not. When LU starts winning conference championships im sure we will get a look.
