looks like Campbell is taking the move back here seriously; hired a new AD (formerly at Samford who evidently did a lot for their facilities, in particular FOOTBALL

)

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Bob Roller was named Director of Athletics at Campbell University on Wednesday during a press conference at the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center. University President Dr. Jerry Wallace and Vice President for Student Life Dr. Dennis Bazemore introduced Roller, who brings three decades of experience in Division I athletics to his position.
... For all of his accomplishments, Roller was named the 2009-10 Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Southeast Region Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
... Numerous athletics facility upgrades were accomplished during Roller's tenure at Samford. The most recent upgrade came with the opening the Cooney Family Field House prior to the start of practice for the 2009 football season. The new field house includes offices for the football coaches, a weight room, locker room, training room, player's lounge and meeting rooms.
hmmm... regardless if they stay non-scholly or not, I say we start scheduling them now in FB and eliminate the DII that we always seem to get stuck with

Agreed. I don't see why we can't work out a 2 for 1 type of deal (2 trips to the Bill and 1 trip to NC).

Agreed...I mean yeah we might beat them by 30 but at least its a D-I level opponent

Agreed. Div I is always better than Div II.

The selection committee will always look more favorably on a D-I win than a D-II game that, technically in their eyes, doesn't count.

NO. GSU went to Campbell last year. The stadium is just not even worth talking about basically it wouldn't hold every member on flamefans. The visiting locker room was nice and thats about it. the press box is a trailer on stilts. the drive was basically like going to gardner webb except worse. for the sake of LU's equipment staff just no. lol I'm glad they have a new athletic director if he builds them a decent stadium i might say yes.
Maybe i'm biased cause I had a horrible time setting up at that "stadium" and we had to win on a last second field goal. Campbell is a nice town. Mom went to law school for a little bit. sorry rant over.

looked like it was new on their website. At least the turf and the fieldhouse.
it did mention temporary bleachers and a capacity of @3500 or so.
supposedly being completed in 3 stages.

Ummm...have you seen CSU??? I understand their stadium is not much and that trip would suck, but it's better to play them once a year for the next 3 years than playing WV Wesleyan or Glenville St.

This is true. I remember CSU and SSU were just as bad. i would rather have Campbell as a season opener at home though

I'd definitely would rather have them at home, but in order for them to agree to a long-term deal we may have to do a 2 for 1 or a 3 for 1. I'd be fine with that. It's better than playing 1 D2 every year for the next 3-4 years.
