I wanted to get someone else's take on NBC leaving off "One nation, under God" in the intro segment today. To me, not a big deal. I wanted to see what you all thought. To quote a guy a rarely agree with
"My first allegiance is not to a flag, a country, or a man. My first allegiance is not to democracy or blood. It's to a King and a Kingdom." - Derek Webb

Just NBC doing it's politically correct crap again. That's all I've got to say about it.

I have gotten over getting upset over something this petty, but nbc didn't take it out as some righteous cause they took it out because of how they feel about God...
I do agree with webb's response our first allegiance should be go God, not to a nation

what irritated me was making the commentators at the US Open go on and say "whoops, we didnt mean to do that and we're sorry if anyone was offended. It was a simple error and we didnt intentionally cut it"
dont insult our intelligence, just acknowlege your company's lockstep social correctness Euro-trash mindset

BuryYourDuke wrote:First of all, the Pledge was written as an indoctrination tool after the war between the states to hammer home the quaint, but revisionist notion that we are "one nation, indivisible", not a voluntary union of states. Also that our primary duty is to serve the state (read nation), and not God If you do much research at all into the Pledge, what it was designed to do, and who wrote it, it will probably not seem as defensible as I know I once thought it was. Indeed, I rarely find much common ground with Webb, but on this he is correct.
Not gonna lie, I cant decide wither to pull out Howard Zinn's A People's History in the United States or a Dictionary....because none of this made sense.

This alone tells me what I should think of this story.

Maybe you should discuss the merits of the article if you have any criticism of it.
I could. And I've never heard of this theory so honestly I couldn't. Just not a fan of this Lew Rockwell guy.

Is this thread about leaving out that phrase or the pledge in general? We should start a separate thread with our thoughts on lewrockwell.com. OPT OUT OF THE STATE!

1) "this Lew Rockwell guy", didn't write the column.
2) If you can't make any legitimate criticism of the facts contained in the column, perhaps it would be best to say nothing?
jbock has got to stay the course...its either say something ridiculous, then once proven wrong do a complete 180 and claim you never said that or that is not what he meant or simply do what he is doing now and say nothing...he is probably better off saying nothing
