This is great for coach. I am happy for him. I didn't think personally that he would ever leave GMU but the lure of the ACC is too great for most as we have found out around here.

It is a win win for him Smoothie. He gets to make 5 times more money, and live in Florida, plus he will be able to make Miami better. That is all that he has to do. He doesn't have to win the ACC or anything like that. Just compete well and get into the NCAA's a couple of times.
If he tanks, it doesn't even matter. Miami is a football school period. He will be able to retire comfortably or get another mid major job if he chooses. I don't see a down side.

Haith raised the bar a bit in Coral Gables and my wife's cousin who was an assistant there indicated that the school doesn't pay particularly well. He got a major pay hike moving from Miami to Mizzou.
But I agree if you are going to have your sunset years of your career somewhere, Miami is the place to get a jumpstart on retirement.

raised the bar?? Miami made the dance twice if im not mistaken in Haith's time there. MIami is a tough place to win. Its a pro sports town and not unless the canes are playing Duke or Carolina their arena is empty. Mason draws more than Miami. If it was a money move sure he won, If it's a fmaily thing which i had no idea he had Florida ties, ok he wins. Miami was competing under Haith. So if the goal is to make the dance more than what Haith did, then i hope he can win. It is just a tough job with little fan support. Why do you think Haith left?? He was a key recruiter for Rick Barnes at Texas, but he could not get that type of Player at the U. why?? because the fan support is awful, and their are at least eight ACC teams every year that are better the the Canes.

I think even calling miami a pro sports town is being generous. Horrible fan support all around. One of the worse pro sports cities there is in my opinionl

Even jai alai & horse racing seem to be dying. It is like the retirees & snowborids quit caring about sports when they arrive in South Florida.

Yeah I read an article the other day saying that he had family in the area and down in the keys.
