I still can't shake the concept of a WAC Eastern Division taht could assure that league's continued existence while giving the East Coast FCS schools looking to step up a viable option. Here are the sports that the league offers (with LU sponsored teams in bold):

Baseball
Mens Hoops
Womens Hoops
Cross Country
Football
Mens Golf
Womens Golf
Gymnastics
Indoor T&F
Outdoor T&F
Soccer
Softball
Womens Swimming & Diving
Mens Tennis
Womens Tennis
Volleyball

So that gives you an idea of what sports would have a travel strain to head out west. But realistically only baseball, softball, hoops, football, soccer, tennis & volleyball would have to make multiple trips out west (and perhaps not even all of those sports). Field hockey & LAX wouldn't be affected at all based on the WAC not sponsoring those sports. The more I look at the possibilities the less ridiculous the idea becomes.

The league would need to expand to 12 teams in order to have divisions. I think it wouldn't be difficult at all to pull together at least 6 East Coast schools (LU, Delaware, JMU, ODU, Appy, Charlotte, the Georgias Southern & State, USA as well as Jax St) to make this happen. This could be a win-win for the WAC and those of us looking for an invitation to move up.
