It appears the Gamecocks have formally joined us in the 'Ready & Waiting' Line for FBS.

The Jacksonville State University Board of Trustees passed a resolution during Monday's quarterly meeting that allows the University to explore the possibility of moving the Gamecock football team to the Football Bowl Subdivision, provided there is an opportunity in the future.

WHEREAS, our athletic teams, fans, students, alumni and everyone affiliated with this University has expressed an interest to explore the possibility of moving our football program to the Football Bowl Subdivision, provided there is an opportunity in the future;

In other words, JSU is letting the Sunbelt know that they are ready to go should that league decide they'd like to add another school in their footprint.

Sun Belt would be the best fit for them. Although I guess that would mean they'd move out of the OVC for all sports if that happens.

Sunbelt is obvious destination except for the fact that the league has indicated that it has no interest inviting FCS step-ups. But if the Sunbelt were to lose a school or two stepping up to C-USA should that league lose a school or two to a league like the Big East ...
