Anybody been watching Sam? It looks like he got a few reps in the first preseason game, but didn't play against the Falcons this past week. I also see him listed on the injured list (but probable for this week's game).

We've got several threads on Sam over in the Non-LU Sports forum. I'm moving this over there were we can pick up the conversation.

jealous that I picked him up off of waivers last year? I've got the 2nd pick. I wouldnt touch him until well after I have all of my starters filled and at least 1 back up RB. I don't know why you're betting on me, I have the best drafts around. Did you forget about Puffenberger? I bet he's his 2nd RB.

Notebook: Gado takes reps at fullback
By Dylan B. Tomlinson
Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers
On Monday morning, Green Bay Packers tailback Samkon Gado was informed he had a new position.
With William Henderson out for three to six weeks with a knee injury, the coaching staff looked to Gado to help carry the load at fullback.
During team drills, Gado shared repetitions with fullback Vonta Leach with the first team. Tailback Noah Herron also took some reps at fullback.
"I don't know if it's a permanent move, but obviously we're hurting at that position with Will out," Gado said. "I think they thought that I was the best suited of all of the running backs to do that."
Of the three backup tailbacks behind starter Ahman Green, Gado would seem to be the best to make the switch. He has better size than Herron and he's more durable than Najeh Davenport, who entered the NFL as a fullback.
"I think he's definitely got the size to do it," Packers running backs coach Edgar Bennett said. "The more you can do to help this team win football games, that's really what this is all about."
Gado was not thrilled with the switch. After leading the Packers with 582 rushing yards and six touchdowns last season, he expected to be back at tailback for this season.
"Obviously, I'm used to being in a two-point stance," Gado said. "This was the first time I had ever taken reps at fullback, so I haven't developed that level of comfort yet."
One of the other reasons Gado may have been moved to fullback is his ability to catch passes. While the coaching staff has raved about Leach's blocking ability, he's been a suspect pass-catcher. He had two drops Saturday night, one of which almost certainly would have been a touchdown.
Gado said he will play wherever the coaching staff wants him to play.
"I'm a running back, and that's what I'm most comfortable doing," Gado said. "Right now, we need extra fullbacks. It's a tough pill to swallow, but it's not about me."

This isn't looking good for him.
Ahman Green will start, McCarthy said Saturday. It will be his first game action since he tore a quadriceps tendon at Minnesota on Oct. 23.
Also expected to be available are Najeh Davenport and Arliss Beach, both of whom have been banged up and limited in practice this week. Davenport (hip) made it through practice for a second straight day. Beach (shoulder) practiced all week with a red jersey, meaning he could not have contact. Samkon Gado and Noah Herron also are expected to play.
Green is expected to play 18 to 20 snaps, but the No. 1 offense will play more than that. McCarthy didn't say which running back would follow Green. Herron could get a few snaps at fullback because starter William Henderson is out with a knee injury.

He did score a TD last night. 12 carries. The Pack looks BAD.

Fortunately for him, though, with every score he makes, he is adding equity to his player stock that will at the very least allow him to bounce around the league for the next several years, if the Pack ever decide to trade him, send him to New England to learn behind Corey Dillon and when Dillon's done, enter Gado.

Well since we are <sniffing> the possibility for a trade I will throw this into the mix: The Jets. NE has the guy from Minnesota they are very happy with. The Jets are in DIRE need of a running back. Curtis Martin is a power runner and Gado is to some extent (more so then his superior on the LU depth chart Dre') Plus, as they mentioned last nite, he has really shown he is able to catch passes and with Pennington's noodle arm, little hitches, swing passes and dumps are all the Jets can accomplish. TO me this seems like a good fit, but not sure the Pack (RETIRE NOW FAVRE, SAVE THE HUMILIATION) are looking to axe him.
