CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina head coach Roy Williams confirmed the rumored aircraft carrier game against Michigan State next season on his radio show on Monday night. The game will take place on Nov. 11, 2011 – Veterans Day – in San Diego.
“It hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re supposed to be playing Michigan State in San Diego on an aircraft carrier on Veterans Day next year,” Williams said.
Speculation points to the game being held on the deck of the USS Reagan (pictured above), but that detail has not been confirmed yet.

That depends on if Harrison Barnes is still playing. He couldn't hit the ocean if he tried.

Nice rimshot!
I've been waiting to use that Beejism.
Beejism - word or expression used by BJ Williams that most individuals don't have much of a clue as to what he is talking about.

Wow...this will seriously be pretty tough for the players. Maybe they are going to set up something to block the wind?

Good call on not having the game in Norfolk. You could pretty much bank on having to play the game in a Nor'easter if that was the case.
Wind will be a factor anyway. I'm not sure this is a good idea.

I would guess the carrier will not be at sea when the game is played - the story says "in San Diego". Therefore the wind, roll/pitch of the ship would be minimal or non-existent.

I think we all caught on to the fact that it wouldnt be at sea. Its still going to be docked in the water, its still going to be windy on the deck.

The Globetrotters used to play on a flight deck all the time back in the day. Shout out to ABC Wide World of Sports from my childhood.

This could be the most awesome game in my lifetime. I'll be at the LU game but I'll have this game DVR'ed.

That wasn't a real match, though. It was a friendly practice done as a publicity stunt.

this is stupid. If you're gonna do this, go all out and don't put in bleachers. I want to see the deck in the background or F-18s. It just looks like an outdoor game. Which is cool, but it's wasting the fact that it's on a carrier

So how did Izzo allow his squad to get so bad offensively? No high level scorers on that team. Their best offense has been a missed shot because they keep getting all the offensive rebounds.

That's always been the case with Izzo teams. They just pound the offensive boards. Watch when a shot goes up at least 4 guys are crashing. Then watch other teams, they send 2 maybe 3 guys to the offensive glass. He has great athletes and that helps.
