So we know who will be coaching for Maryland, but now there are a ton of other openings out there.

In college we've got UConn, Pitt, possibly Michigan, possibly Stanford.

In the pros we have San Francisco, Cleveland, Miami, Cincy, Oakland, Denver, Carolina, and Tennessee. Some of these I'm actually surprised at.

But, are there any others in college? Who do you think will/should be going where?

Harbaugh is the big name right now, in both college and pro, but as a Michigan fan I wouldn't mind seeing him coaching in Ann Arbor. And if Rich Rod is let go, he may be a good fit for UConn.

I think Marvin Lewis ends up in San Francisco if they don't get Harbaugh. Pitt has a shot at him too. Jon Fox goes to Cleveland. When did Jeff Fisher get fired? Any pro team with an opening needs to hire him immediately.

i don't see why harbaugh would come here. it would still take 2-3 years because he would have to change the entire offensive and defensive personell to fit his system. denard will probably pull a mallet and leave as he isn't a pro style qb. he has his players in place at stanford and can win now. plus the 49ers will offer him the job.

rich rod's team improved recordwise and offensively in '10. the defense dipped horribly. if richrod gets rid of everything defense, i say give him his 4th year. the big 10 sheds tons of quality this offseason. wisc is the favorite but mich/illinois both have a chance to be good. if he's fired, we won't be ranked for 2 years.

Fisher is expected to get canned any day now. Bud has always stood by him since they started working together here in Houston. But he lost the locker room and pretty much everyone agrees a change would be best for both coach & franchise.

I was hoping Kubiak would be canned. But it looks like he'll get another year to do something other than disappoint.

Looks like both the Dolphins and the Bengals will decide to keep their head coach. Wonder how Cincy fans feel about that.

I've been following it all day. And it's actually taken a turn in the last hour or so that Lewis won't be back. Nothing finalized though. This is 100% a negotiation that will either end in a new coach or end with Mike Brown giving up much of his power that has been holding the organization back for 20 years. I don't even really care about Marvin at this point. But if Marvin is retained it is a HUGE victory for the Bengals in that Mike no longer has control of assistant coaches or players.

As far as the Dolphins go, the general thought down here is that they will keep Sparano ONLY if they can not attract a bigger name. By bigger name, they are thought to be pursuing Harbaugh, Fisher (if/when he is let go by TN), Gruden, or Cower (Although widley beleived to be unlikely). Personally, as a fan, I wouldn't mind either way. They are foing to have a new OC next year no matter what and need to look long and hard to solve their QB issue which has been ongoing since Marino retired. Ricky Williams pretty much walked out of town after their blow out loss on Sunday and Ronnie Brown is not worth giving a new contract to. Basically, it really doesn't matter who is their coach next year, unless they make major moves (on the field and in the front office) next season is likely to go just like this season.

ok, fake out by the Bengals. Marvin Lewis has signed a contract. I can't wait until the press conference to make sure he got GM powers and that their OC is getting fired. This could be a new dawn for the Bengals. Consistent success may be on the horizon.

just wait until denard, forcier, and gardner say bye bye. stupid boosters and alum.

the guy didn't do himself any favors. he got off on the wrong foot with alum right off the bat, embarassing losses to osu and 1 disasterous bowl game in 3 years. one of the worst defenses mich history. the whole kicker thing.

i was reading an article in regards to coaching changes. when it comes to entire system changes in college football you can generally give the coach 4 years. they showed that when this happened teams generally ended up being successful. he also showed that when teams fire system changing coaches after 2-3 years, the teams often have an upswing in record but its because of maturation of the fired coaches players.

Thank God and Greyhound he's gone. The entire state of WV, even in Huntington, is dancing in the streets!

Initial reports were premature. It's still not official yet. Team was supposed to have a meeting tonight at 7, but that has been postponed til tomorrow at 4. So the reporter from Detroit that said it was official, probably has a less secure job than RR does right now... I do find that pretty funny.

At this point, there isn't anyone out there who would be an upgrade from RR other than Harbaugh. Brady Hoke is not an upgrade from RichRod.

And he would receive, I think, a $2.5 mill buy out.

Maybe not, but he's a "Michigan man".

my dad is a michigan man too. he can't even be a birth coach.

so far this has been pretty botched.

we just now sit and wait and see what damage decommits and tranfers do to this program.

So it looks like Bud Adams is siding with Jeff Fisher and saying goodbye to Vince Young. And it seems to me that the Dolphins will be keeping Sparano.

As a Redskins fan, I feel oddly left out. This time of year has become a tradition for us. I guess the whole Michigan thing has helped to fill the gap for me, but that's harder to deal with.

You need to follow Adam Schefter on twitter. Although they haven't fired Sparano, they flew out to the west coast to outbid SF for Harbaugh.

Over/Under until Snyder trades for Vince Young and Randy Moss in a package deal?
I'm with you. Feels awful strange for FedEx Field to be quiet.

RichRod didn't do any favors LEAVING WV or GOING to Michigan. (His wife wasnt exactly loved in either place as well)
I hate to see people lose jobs, but I thought the UM AD said it right. It was a bad fit and it wasn't b/c of lack of effort that caused the problems. Not sure Rich Rod's system would work in Ann Arbor or the Big 10. Purdue SORTA runs something similar, but the expectations aren't the same in West Lafayette as they are in Ann Arbor. Purdue can be on a roller coaster, UM CAN'T.
Les Miles would probably look long and hard at the Michigan job. LSU fans were on his case the last few years, and it wasn't like his record is THAT bad. He would LOVE to coach at UM. IF they can't get Harbaugh, I'd say LES IS MORE!
