SEC is complete trash in basketball. You've got Florida and Kentucky. That's pretty much it.

What makes Florida any better than Tennessee or Vanderbilt this year? I'd argue based on results so far this year that they are fairly equal, maybe with the nod going to Vandy because at least they don't have any bad losses like the other two: UT lost to Oakland and Charlotte; UF lost to OSU (it was a butt whipping when UF was top 10), UCF, and Jacksonville. Vanderbilt's only two losses are WVU and Missouri in OT. Vandy hasn't had much of a schedule, but they are beating who they are supposed to beat which is more that can be said for UT and UF. Georgia and South Carolina aren't too far behind in the SEC East, either, but they are clearly in a lower class.

I am really amazed how somebody could squander back to back national championships like Billy Donovan has. Florida should have been on auto-recruit at that point

East on UT's loss to Charlotte, Charlotte is a good A10 school which is a good basketball league. However, overall the SEC is definitely down. SEC west is a complete disaster for a power conference division.

As for this being the worst year ever for a BCS conference, I think the PAC-10 last year was equally as bad.

For reference purposes, here are the worst "BCS" conference RPIs in previous years:
This year: Pac-10 (8th) .5327 - SEC is 5th at .5566
2010: Pac-10 (8th) .5384
2009: SEC (6th) .5537
2008: Big Ten (6th) .5484
2007: Big 12 (7th) .5573
2006: Pac-10 (7th) .5443
2005: Big Ten (6th) .5434
2004: Pac-10 (9th) .5303 - this is the farthest realtimerpi goes

KenPom Power Rankings:
2011: SEC (6th) .8247
2010: Pac-10 (6th) .7813
2009: SEC (6th) .7840
2008: SEC (6th) .8621
2007: Big 12 (6th) .8325
2006: Big 12 (6th) .8104
2005: Pac 10 (6th) .7785
2004: Pac-10 (9th) .6959
2003: Pac-10 (6th) .8000

So it looks like the 2004 Pac-10 takes the cake here. That year Stanford went 30-2, the next best record was Arionza at 20-10. Washington was second in the conference at 19-12. Six of the ten teams had a below .500 record, only two teams were in the RPI top 50 (15, 44), only four in the RPI top 100 (15, 44, 68, 69), and none had an SOS in the top 50.

Vandy is pretty good, so I should add them.

I also would agree that perhaps the 2010 PAC 10 might have been worse, I honestly forgot about how bad they were last year.

And for those of you who didn't like my comment, you've got Florida, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. Tennessee is overrated. So that's pretty much it. :D

Tenn completely destroyed Pitt at Pitt. Now they are probably overrated themselves but still an impressive win for anybody.

I agree, but as admittedly I am more of a Big East basketball fan, I think Pitt is highly overrated as well. Let's see who they've played other than beating Maryland. (Try not to go to sleep here). Rhode Island, Illinois-Chicago, North Florida, Robert Morris, Pennsylania, Duquesne, Rider, Delaware State, and Maryland-Eastern Shore.

And it gets even harder. They play American tomorrow.

Florida is overrated - they are the same team as last year that was an utter failure. Likely to fall out of the Top 25 yet again after falling to Jacksonville at HOME and will once again fall well short of living up to the undeserved preseason hype.

They only have one good win - an overrated Kansas State team whose best player is nowhere near as good as last year. They have only played two quality teams: OSu which whipped UF soundly and Kansas State. At least UT has beaten Villanova, Pitt, and VCU

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Vanderbilt finishes 1st or 2nd in the SEC, vying with UT and UK for 1st.
