Have any Big South Schools considered picking up football? Like Radford, Winthrop, HPU, UNC-A?
I feel like Radford might struggle with football because of being 15 minutes from Virginia Tech but I think Winthrop could be really good really quick if they started a team.
I'm just bored a curious thats all..I haven't heard that one of these schools will start a team.

Radford is so strapped for money that they can't even afford a Big South Quiz Bowl team.

High Point considered it and decided against it, but they would have played DIII anyways.

I think Winthrop did a feasibility study and decided against it.

UNCA isn't going to start one. Radford probably won't either.

WU is open to the idea, so long as pretty much all of the money to start the program and keep it running comes from outside sources (and there hasn't been any known source that has stepped forward yet). Also, I know there are many different ways to interpret Title IX compliance, but WU will always have trouble making that work with a female/male student ratio that is regularly around 70/30...WU is still currently working on adding more women's sports just to be compliant now (they announce a couple of weeks ago that women's lacrosse will be starting next year).

Thanks...the reason I wanted to know is because I think it would be great if we could get atleast 2 teams that play all sports in the Big South to start football so we could push Stony Brook out.

They'll probably do it within the next ten years. With their president and the money they have, they're trying to get the school ready to support it before they add it.
