YOUR High School's football stars

This season I've been following the numbers of Mike Bellamy, a running back from my High School (Charlotte High) who's committed to Clemson and is 27th in the ESPNU 150.

Thru 8 games, here are his stats (CHS is a public school and plays 4A football in Florida):

140 carries
1677 yards
31 TD's

Which basically means about 12 yards a carry, 210 yards a game, and 4 TD's a game.

Not many other names to come from CHS, so he might be a shot at getting a big name player out there. Burton Lawless, a guard for 5 years with the Cowboys in the late 70's, is our only notable football alum to date. QB Justin Midgett had a chance, but he showed up at Florida during the Leak/Tebow era (Leak was there already, and had he stayed around he'd never have played because of Tebow). Needless to say he never got a chance, and played in AFL2 and is playing in Europe now, I think. (Ingle Martin was there, too. He wound up doing okay for himself tho at Furman, then in the NFL and UFL... probably what Midgett should have done, too). I once busted Midgett's eyebrow open playing basketball. Fun story...

Anyways, what players does your high school have to brag about?

We haven't had many athletes who have made it out of Kempsville High School (in Virginia Beach).

D.J. Dozier was drafted in to the NFL (14th overall) out of Penn State and played five seasons w/ the Vikings and Lions from '87 to '91. He later played in the MLB w/ the Mets.

We had J.R. Reid in basketball, who went on to play w/ UNC and the #5 pick in the NBA...however, DJ's it for football.

Mike Rinfrette....started at FB for Wake Forest

These are the most recent one's I can think of. There are some others from way back when, but I just don't remember. I know VT is currently looking at one of the DBs at Bunn....just not sure of who it is. It's funny the talent we've had at Bunn because it's a school of only 600 or so.

Only 1 - Jehuu Caulcrick. RB at Michigan State then to the Jets as a Free Agent in 2008, now with the 49ers. Has yet to play a down in the NFL during the regular season. I believe he's the only athlete from my school to ever play at the division one level in any sport. But it is a school that graduates on average 45 students each year.

Girls' basketball has a talented one right now - a junior who you're neglecting on your list.

My high school in Illinois was a hoops powerhouse and a couple of the guys I went to school with had undistinguished NBA careers. Our football team won our season opener my sophomore year of high school and din't win again until I nearly finished up at LU. Suffice it to say NFL prospects were scant,

I claim Hargrave Military Academy when it comes to football because my HS (as I said above) doesnt have a football team...many NFL stars came through Chatham...and many college scouts make it a regular stop on the recruiting trail

Do you mean Chepirah Neal? I don't know a lot about current players.

Also, forgot that Bill Cowher's wife, played basketball at Bunn & met Bill when they played at NC State.

Probably the best football star to come out of my high school was Monte Kiffin (obviously way before my time)...although he is responsible for Lane Kiffin so with all Monte's contributions to football it is probably a wash :(
