The Heat championship run starts tomorrow. I'm ready for it to begin.

Normally I hate the Lakers and Celtics, but I would root for either one over the Heat.
Oh, and go Magic.

I was just talking about this with my brother concerning the celtics...and after last year putting up with Celtics fans claiming Howard is a dirty player and being all around obnoxious I just will never, ever be able to cheer for them...
with that said I firmly believe this year is the Magic's best shot to win the championship. Will they? Thats another story, but I believe its their best shot for the next few years
Q: Is Boston the team to beat in the East this year?
A: Boston, Orlando, Atlanta, Clevelandand Milwaukeeare the teams to beat. And Charlotte.
Q: You don’t believe that “Team John Dillinger” is the team to beat?
A: That’s the name of their team? What happened to John Dillinger?
Q: He got killed.
A: Ohhh, by who?
Q: By the Feds.
A: I guess I’m going to call my team the Feds. That’s our new name.

Going to Bdubs to watch the Heat game tonight. I don't normally watch the NBA but for some reason I am intrigued to see how the whole Lebron in South Breach situation works out.

As a Nets fan, it's nice to see them start out 2-0 this year. Been a loooong time since that happened. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

the sameole "no defense" shtick is old. they must not be watching and the avg score in the nba was like 20 pts higher in the late 80's early 90's than it is today. or you can watch 18 yr olds falling all overthemselves.

I thought so too, but last night they proved they haven't learned how to react the the physical defensive teams. Until they learn how to do that and not allow these physical teams take them completely away from their game then they won't contend for a championship.
With that said it was one game, a game Miami and their fans were hyped all summer for, so its impossible to jump to any kind of conclusion the first week of the season.

Bill Simmons wrote what may be his first good article in a few years about Miami and the Wade/James combo.

I thought the Celtics were supposed to be too old.
You're 2-1, champ. Cool the jets a little bit. The Nets have a better record.

My jets are cool. I know it's a long season. The Celtics and Lakers will be very tough to beat. I heard all summer "how is Miami going to stop Dwight Howard". We obviously don't have to. You have to have more than one player to beat the Heat.

And the Magic do have more than one player. We just don't have more than one player who shows up every night. Which is our biggest issue. Sometimes Rashard shows up, sometimes VC does, sometimes D12 does, sometimes Jameer does, sometimes someone else does. But there's no one who's on every night. It's the one thing I envy about guys like Wade, Kobe and LeBron, they never really have an off night.
But yeah, it's not all about D12. When he's used properly and there's a good inside/outside balance he's really good. But he's not a "we can't do anything else so let's force it to Dwight" guy.
His defense is, was, and always will be his strength. I didn't get to see the game, but as long as he did his part on D and on the boards, that's still all you can ask from Dwight.
Rashard missing every shot and no one else being able to score is more of a problem then anything concerning D12.

No doubt. "D12" is a stud. I'd love to have him. He dominated on the offensive end of the floor last night which surprised me a bit. He was consistently knocking down 12-15ft jumpshots. He had 19 points in the first half. Dissapeared in the 2nd though.

Sounds like he had some foul trouble, and he's a headcase when he starts getting on the wrong end of calls.
I could be wrong tho, since I didn't watch.

1st half there was 0 double team on howard...then the heat realized nobody else wanted to play except for howard so they doubled him hard and nobody else could hit a shot, the howard got frustrated and committed stupid fouls which created an all to familiar scenario for us magic fans...
The magic team that showed up didn't even resemble the magic team that we all know...some of that can be contributed to great Miami defense, the other can be just lack of discipline on the offensive side. The Magic still are a great defensive team, their offense just disappears at times which is why I was hoping they could somehow get Chris Paul. As much as I love Jameer I think Chris/Dwight could be a great 1-2 combo.
