If you said yes without reading the body of my post, then you're quite the funny guy. And you're probably right.

Anyways, does anyone else here geek out of all the ridiculous statistics in baseball? I'm talking about xFIP, UZR/150, WAR, stuff like that.

Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone else was interested in these stats, and which metrics they prefer when evaluating players.

Sadly, MLB no longer interests me as much as it used to. So in answer to your question, probably yes.

I wish there was a reliable source to give a SABR look at college ball. I would figure the Horns and Flames would interest you more than the 'Stros and the Rangers?

Itd take a heckuva lot of research to do a lot of breaking down the SABR metrics of college baseball

Despite hating baseball, I can appreciate geeky statistics. What I very much dislike, is the same stat geeks trying to push goofy stats on other sports.

Yeah, I've seen some of the in depth basketball stats and they just don't seem to work the way the baseball ones do. There's just something about baseball I guess.

Anyways, thoughts on Jose Bautista...

He's hit more fly balls this season than the past two seasons combined.

And his Home Run to Fly Ball ratio has doubled this season.

His Isolated power numbers have shot through the roof compared to his career.

This is the definition of a fluke and a lucky year. I'd be surprised if he hit 20 next year.

you better believe he is gonna be under heavy scrutiny for his year because of all the PED craziness and what not

...and that's why baseball will always be the 3rd or 4th most popular sport. If Bautista comes out next year and "only" hits 30 HR's next year, everyone will be ready to erase this season.

Sometimes guys just have good seasons. Prince Fielder is on pace for about 36 HR's this year after hit 50 several seasons ago. It's safe to say he's not on PED's.
