Wiggington, Krantiz, and Samuel getting ejected was fun too.

I think I may have mentioned it before, but Wiggington was friends with Fumblerooskies from their days together at UNCA.
Incidentally, has Troy Patton been up yet? I'm too lazy to check.

Fumble had talked about taking me on a trip to Baltimore to see a game and meet Ty Wiggington; sadly, that never happened. I think Fumble was the athletic trainer at UNCA when Wiggy was playing ball there.
As an O's fan myself, I loved watching the triple ejection; my only regret is that I didn't see it live or in person. It reminded me of the old Earl Weaver days in Bmore.

When Ty joined the Astros, Fumbles had me contact him in the clubhouse. Ty remembered not only Fumbles but JT Jr. Ty had nothing but great things to say about the Taylors.

Yeah, the link I posted was of the fan running on the field for two mintues of hilarity goodness. But the ejections were sweet also.

Last I checked, Patton still hasn't been up this year.

Patton was called up Wednesday for depth purposes, but just for the day. He was shipped back to Norfolk.

Patton just got called up again today. Curious Sly, what is the interest there for you? Or are you just some big Troy Patton homer? Is he from Texas?

Patton played for the Astros minor league system. Could it be another Sly encounter?

O's fans (myself included) shouldn't get too excited, and not that it matters much at this point in the season, but a sweep of the Angels to start the Showalter era sure is nice. White Sox tonight. Four in a row? I guess I am too excited.

Just heard Buck on ESPN radio describe Boog Powell as a "deity" in Baltimore.

O's ink Mark Reynolds. The 32 homers sound good, but hopefully he doesn't hit .198 again. Not sure it's worth giving up two young bullpen arms. Still need a strong reliever, and more power at first base.

Reynolds can make opposing pitchers' K numbers balloon in a hurry. The dude's never seen a pitch he didn't like.

Sly, the folks in Baltimore are talking about what a patient hitter he is, drawing lots of walks, averaging 85 BB a year. So his low BA (lifetime .242) is offset by his higher OBP (lifetime .344).
Still, it makes me nervous having a new cleanup hitter who batted .198 last year and averages over 220 strikeouts a year--which the O's fans are saying is better than hitting into a double play.

All I can tell you is that he was the king of solo HR & 4-K nights when he would visit Minute Maid Park. The reason he gets so many walks is that his reputation for free-swinging is so great that pitchers don't need to put it in the strikezone.

And another add...
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- In the end, Baltimore's unwavering aggressiveness in finding a shortstop paid off. The Orioles agreed to a deal with the Minnesota Twins early Thursday morning that netted them
shortstop J.J. Hardy, infielder Brendan Harris and $500,000 in cash considerations in exchange for two Minor League pitchers -- Brett Jacobson and Jim Hoey.

But we're still missing a first baseman, unless you want Luke Scott to play there full time. Sadly, Wiggy left to sign elsewhere.

I thought the liberals in B-more had already tarred & feathered Luke this week.
And for the record, Luke was one of my favorite Astros to chat with back in the day. He loves talking about hunting, fishing & Jesus.

Nice that Adam Jones spoke up and defended Luke. Sly, you are right. Luke is first class. Love it when he crosses home plate.
