Its too bad, frankly. It would help us with gender equity should we move up to FBS. I have a feeling this subject is not finished yet.

Not anytime soon. Scorcho took care of YouTube but Vimeo and other sources require different coding. And frankly, our coding capabilities around here right now are slim and none.
I've been trying to figure out how to Tapatalk set up for FlameFans and I've yet to pull that off as well. Once again, if somebody has the skills and wants to lend me a hand I am more than willing to allow the opportunity. But I'm a content and not a systems guy.

Apparently the girl in that video doesn't know what an athlete is. No one ever said she wasn't "a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina" (merriam-webster dictionary definition of athlete), they just said her choice of extracurricular activity isn't a sport.

WAIT WAIT WAIT.
Is Cheer Xplosion the group that came to Liberty? Please tell me the stuck up girls in that article aren't the ones who showcased their "talents" during the halftime show.
In my book, Cheerleading falls under the "Athletic Competition" category with Dancing, Ice Skating and Gymnastics.

Gymnastics is far removed from dancing and ice skating.

As much as I can tell from the articles....there are two things keeping cheerleading from being a sport:
1.) Lack of a consistant governing body (NCAA Championship?)
2.) A "Sport" cannot be a support organization for another sport
For cheerleading to be declared a sport they would have to be a competition type squead that doesn't actualy cheer at sporting event. (Now the whole definition of the word "cheerleading" gets confusing) The governing body issue could be taken care of rather quickly, but i don't see schools rushing out to form competitive cheerleading squads that don't cheer ... even if it might help Title IX requirements.

Although I dont disagree with that, The competition structure of Cheerleading is closer to those than any traditional sports.
Perform a routine, smile, and judges rate
how attractive you are the team's technical execution.

wait since when is LU Cheering the face of the school sports?? Not Mike Brown and the football team who is 3 time Big South Champs?? or Jesse Sanders and the Men's basketball team? Even the baseball team and Matty have a problem with this statement haha... I'm pretty sure that the "average" student cant name any cheerleaders (maybe they can recognize some faces but not name), and yet if you asked them to name a football player I am almost certain they could name at least 1
