Report: NCAA investigating UNC football

RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina athletic director Dick Baddour said Thursday the NCAA is investigating a sports program at the school regarding possible rules violations.

Baddour declined to say which sport, but a person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press the NCAA is looking at Butch Davis' football program. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the investigation is confidential.

"I was told that I could limit my comments to the fact that they had been here and they wanted me to say that we had indeed been cooperative," said Baddour, adding that the inquiry "has our full attention."

Been a rough week or so for the Heels! Quan Sturdivant on drug charges and now this... Here is what I can confirm... The NCAA came in town earlier this week and spoke with some players... Joe Schad is reporting that Marvin Austin is one of the players... They wanted to make sure that no "Reggie Bush" stuff was going on... They asked for cell phone records, who was paying there rent.. and who was paying for certain trips.. Austin tweeted that he went to the MIA recently..

A source very close to the program told me tonight that the NFL has got to get more control over these agents... Its not the players who are contacting the agents 99% of the time... The Agents get players numbers from the NFL after there Junior season.. Its not illegal for a player to talk with an agent (i.e he calls you and you answer the phone) The problem is when you accept money or gifts and that's where this is all steming from... We'll know a lot more in the morning.. What a great way to end vacation for almost all of the UNC coaches as they have been out of the office all week.

At least when USC cheated, they actually won something...

Marvin Austin was spotted driving 49ers Kentwan Barber's vehicle and stayed at his apartment. Barber played at UNC with Austin, so it wouldnt really fall under booster rule....I think the rumors are true...Beamer has been upset UNC is getting commits from too many Vtech football targets. I know...jk

I really hope its something small....I would think the SEC other than Vandy would get investigated before someone with UNC's success or lack of,would be targeted.

But a team not used to winning isn't used to covering up the "how." Those SEC schools have got that down!

UNC is going to surprise some people this year. 5 defensive players are projected to be 1st rounders, including Austin. So hopefully the investigation fails.

They will shock the country with the first game of the season on College football kickoff this year vs. LSU.
