WInthrop might not get it figured out 100% this year, doubtless, we'll still win the Big South.

I just want to set the precedent, you read it here first (we can re-visit this later) 2011-12 Eagles will be better than the 2006-2007 Eagles.

So basically, Greg Marshall is completely out of Winthrop's blood. They kinda wasted their opportunity to build on what he did. Now they're just every other Big South program.

Still... it's not like 2 championships in 5 years is all that bad.

What we predicted was that Peele would have some early success off of Marshall's recruits and then tank just as he did in UNCG. But he does deserve some credit for those two titles using Ole Purple Face's kids.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt (because you aren't a WU) fan, but even Winthrop fans spout that nonsense about winning two titles w/ Marshall's players...yes, the first title had quite a few holdovers from the Marshall-era, but the 2010 team only had one...Mantoris Robinson.

Fair enough. The 2010 tourney run was impressive.

I would have thought Peele deserved at least another year, but it seems the powers that be have a feeling of entitlement after the way they dominated up til 2010. On top of everything else, they had a senior-dominated team this year, and the new coach will be facing a huge rebuilding job.

I wonder if winthropfans.com will have people bringing up RP 5 years from now

If JM gets it he will hire Allison away from VMI.... Honestly not sure JM is hungry to be head coach anymore though.... He coulda went to GW 2 years ago but said no I was told.

So anyone who plays at WU is now a Marshall recruit? Or is it just the recruits who go becuase of WU's past success? What if they pick WU because of winthropfans.com... would that make them WEF's recruit? And it's not like Peele was brought in from some other school. He played a big part in bringing in "Marshall's recruits" (at least Gaynor, Jenkins and Taj).
