The Best Dunker in the World Today....

Those of you with TiVo, search for "Streetball" on ESPN and look for #11- Taurian Fontenette aka "The Air Up There".

He might be 5'10", if that, and he's one of the best dunkers/finishers I have ever seen. The man has done a 720-degree dunk!!! Ridiculous!!!!

He's from Hitchcock, TX, 45 min. from Houston. Went to JUCO down there, broke his foot twice, ended up dropping out to get a job as a security guard. Went to the AND1 Mix Tape Tour Open Run in Houston and made it on to the bus. Got the contract with AND1 and now has his own shoe, the "AUT720".

I saw him last year in Chicago. Has anyone else seen him in-person?

Check that....he's 6'2". Doesn't matter. Dare I say if he got an invite to the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest, he wins hands down..... NO CONTEST!!!!

-e-, I haven't seen him but if he does a 720 that reminds me of Mark Connor's stories from back in the day when he "knew a guy that could do a 720 backwards! Could start at Liberty Right Now!" "But he is only in the 8th grade!" Connor told that story for 6 years and it never changed  I have to see this kid. I still think Vince Carter is the best dunker I have seen but I can be swayed.

I covered him in high school at Hitchcock (near my parents' house). He actually went to UTEP out of HS but didn't cut it there and wound up playing at an NAIA up in Dallas.

A year agho he was working security at one of the refineries in Texas City when they had an open tryout for the And1 stop at Toyota CEnter. He blew them away and has been travelling with them ever since. We did a story on him the night he did the 720 here in Reliant. It was the same night as the NBA Draft so we missed the much-ballyhooed slam that is all over Youtube.

I'd guess he is probably about 6' 3". I think they listed him as 6' 4" when he took them to the 2A state semifinals his senior year.

I can throw down a two-handed.. um.. well, thats it.. two handed dunk. I can spin twice when I get on the ground though.

I finally went to you tube and checked out this 720. Just ridiculous. Mrs SCAR thinks it is a camera trick. I told her that it looked real to me. This guy brought the X games to the hood.

Its real. There were several thousand witnesses inside the Reliant Arena draft night who can attest to it.

that doesn't make any freakin sense that someone can stay in the air that long.

LB is like a little brother to me but I can honestly say that he is not close to the best dunker. Manger you should have seen Gabe Martin 3 seasons ago. When LB was a frosh LB won the dunk contest but only because Gabe didn't participate due to injury. LB is a really good contest dunker though because he seems like a little kid out there among the big boys. The kid can jump though I will give him that. The other thing Manger (and that is your name now on this board my friend), you are from NYC and you think LB is the best dunker you have ever seen? Things in NYC must have really really changed from back in the old school days then. Or you have never been to Rucker Park (which I doubt).

Slept at his crib? Are you sure you are not Brokeback re incarnated??? Perhaps that is why your opinion is a tad biased. If he is the best dunker you have seen live then you need to get out more!! AND you are from NYC???? Now I KNOW that Chicago hoops are SO MUCH BETTER THAN NYC!!! THe argument is OVER!!! Go Windy City!!!

na, im just joking around. LB is just my man.. rucker has some great dunkers, even people in the streets. but something that just crossed my mind is our very own Alex McLEAN dunked on the NBA's own RON ARTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i kid you not. alex has been playing at the rucker this summer and pulled it off. call him and ask him if you want. matter fact call anyone on the team and ask.... call ron artest. NO JOKE! but for the record i have seen some really great dunkers, and i was in ATL at the all star dunk contest when.... well you all know what happend

Best Dunker... Easily Anthony Smith hahaha just kidding guys, hes pretty good though

Anthony is from the same area as the guy mentioned at the start of the thread. In fact, they probably saw each other from time to time in summer ball before Anthony moved up to Plano. You might ask Smitty about him.
