They are looking at playing only 2 preseason games and 18 regular season games. Good? Bad?
The owners are pushing for it, the players not so sure about it.
Murphy suggested that more regular-season games would mean more revenue— which means more money distributed to players. The earliest season with an expanded schedule would be 2012.

It's not worth it. Players aren't holding up to a 16 game season - 18 would be a disaster.

unless you see a situation where players sit a game or two throughout the season.
then again, if you're paying $400 for a ticket, you wanna see Peyton Manning- not a kid taken in the 37th round outta Whassamatta U.

If you move to an 18-game season and plan to sit your best player a few games, what's the point?

What about the effect only 2 preseason games would have on the players trying to make the team? Less opportunity to show your stuff in game situations. I like the idea of a developmental "minor" league where players can show their stuff over an extended period. The logistics and cost effectiveness might prevent that from happening though as owners become more and more bottom line obsessed.
