2nd biggest news in college basketball

Everything is a distant second to conference realignment but it's looking VERY possible that Tom Izzo is gonna take the Cavs vacant HC job. Any other year this would probably rock the college basketball world. I see him taking this job and eventually being free to take over whatever college program he wants with some retirements coming of the current greats. Does he take the Duke job in 10 years or so? I'm just throwing out ideas.

Izzo is 55. Somehow I don't think Duke will be looking to hire another senior citizen when K hangs it up.

Izzo's days as a college coach are just about over, IMO. He seems like a perfect NBA coach and I believe he will be successful -- maybe not with the Cavs right away, without LeBron, but he will be successful.

If Izzo takes that job, and then LeBron leaves, it's possible we see a Billy Donovan part deux.

Who was the last coach to jump from college to the NBA and be successful?

Yeah, not just anybody can do it.

You've got to come from a good coaching tree. 8)

IT doesn't matter the coaching tree you come from, what matters is that most college guys get hired for the worst teams. when they take over there team already sucks. Floyd/Bulls Calipari/Nets Pitnio/Celtics and Knicks...
