Close, but I say Celtics in 7.
Lakers have best player, and best coach. But Celts have more balance and a deeper bench. Over the course of a 7-game series, I give the slight edge to those Celtics' characteristics.

Is anybody else gripping that they'll have to put up with one of the two most obnoxious fanbases no matter who wins?

Lakers in 6 or 7.

I don't think this will be as close as many think it will be...Lakers in 5, maybe 6

After putting up with the ECF the past couple weeks the Celtic fan base is by far more obnoxious then the Laker fan base could ever be...simply because they are so ignorant, its not even funny

Can the earth be opened and swallow both of the teams whole so they both lose?

It's happened once this week in Guatamala, what's the chances we get two in one week?

I think it comes down to if Boston takes Game 1 or 2. If they win 1, I think they'll win in 6. If they go 0-2, I think the lose in 6. And honestly as far as "fans" go, I'd have to say the Celtics and Red Sox have a ton of bandwagon fans which talk a lot of smack but know close to nothing lol. Most fans from Boston are fairly knowledgeable about sports, but most Boston "fans" aren't from even New England. My 2 cents.

ESPN told me the NBA championship was being held on July 1 between Cleveland, New York, and Chicago. No?

when a columnist from that great town says the celtics should take howard out and there is great support for that crap in that city it completely diminishes them as a "smart" sports town...

I am a lifelong red sox fan...and after the celtics/magic series I hate that city and will probably never cheer for the red sox ever again...

You're going to hate the city of Boston due to a sportswriter?? Also, a single basketball series is going to make you not cheer for the RED SOX? LOL

its not a single series..its been a slow process..and its not because of that writer...he just pretty much sums up what boston sport fans have turned into..

laugh at me all you want...i am not a huge baseball fan..I would watch a magic game over any other sporting event...

Impressive game 1 performance by the lakers, but the Celtics showed a knack for coming back strong after getting blown out. If the Lakers take Game 2 then the series is over in my opinion.

Very true. The Celtics seemed very angry over this loss, so hopefully it will make for an intriguing game 2. If not, then I agree with postman, it's over in 5. 6 if their lucky.

biggest thing that makes me think Lakers take it in 5... Phil Jackson coached teams after winning game 1 are 47-0 in winning the series... thats an incredible number and just means losing is inevitable for the Celtics... this Lakers team is on a whole other level and its going to be scary for the next couple years

Game 2 goes to the fighting Rondo's. I think the series goes at least six games, it would be unfathomable for the Lakers to take three straight games in Boston!

looks like i was wrong (I can admit that)...i still think the lakers take this series...ray allen isn't going to play that well every night...rondo on the other hand, he is the real mvp of that team....

could we be seeing history? could a phil jackson coached team finally lose a series in which they win game 1?

looks like I was wrong completely. I continue to underestimate the Celtics...if Boston pulls this out and anybody but Rondo is MVP its ridiculous...he is the reason the Celtics remain in every game, he is the heart of that team for sure...he just plays for the wrong team...he should come south...Orlando maybe?? haha

I am sure LA will when game 6, but game 7 could go either way. I am done making predictions on the outcome of this series....

If the Celtics don't win game 6, I don't see them winning the series. Of course, going into the playoffs I didn't think they stood a chance at all of getting past the second round...
