As much as I hate Coastal, I find myself rooting for them to make at least the CWS if not further.

Should I be  ?

I never pull for WU in basketball. But I mean what's the best they could ever do, make the sweet 16? Coastal has a legitimate shot of making at least the CWS. That would have to be one of the best things, if not the best, any Big South team has done in any sport. It can only help the rest of the conference.

I am openly cheering on the Chants from this point forward and not evenly remotely feeling guilty. Their success in this postseason raises the stature of the league. If they get to Omaha, the entire league will be given some credibility. You know what they say about high tides raising all ships.

Pulling for CCU as well. Any publicity for the Big South is a good thing at this point.

Definitely cheering for CCU. Much easier to cheer for them than it is for say.... RU, VMI, or WU. I still had a hard time going for WU in the play-in game back in March. (I'm obviously referring to all sports in general.

Guess I'm the exception on here, but I hope they go 2-and-out. I can't root for Coastal, just can't do it. And I don't see any success they have having any major effect on the conference as a whole. Yes, the suits in Charlotte can make a big deal about it, but it doesn't automatically make WU's baseball program any better just because Coastal does well.

But then again, I've never understood why the two big fan-bases in this state (Clemson and South Carolina) make such a big deal about rooting for conference either (ie. South Carolina fans talking junk to Clemson fans when Florida or Alabama wins a football championship...or when Clemson fans do the same in basketball when Duke or UNC wins titles....just because your conference-mate did something big doesn't mean you have a right to ride their coat-tails and take any credit for it) ...so I know I'm an exception for the conference-rooting in general anyway, so I'll just be upfront with that.

I would like to see the pitcher for Stony Brook throw a perfect game this Friday. I would then like to see the next pitcher to face Coastal also throw a perfect game.

I guess what I'm saying is I will not be cheering for Coastal. Ever.

For personal reasons, I am rooting for Coastal to not even make it out of their regional.

Gonna go with the eagle-folk here. There's no reason to root for Coastal ever.

Green Chicken. It's what's for dinner.

I'm not pulling for them simply because of some of their fans at the Big South Tournament. Those people ruined a good story for me and that's a shame because they do have some good fans. I'm also not a huge fan of the attitude the team has after being around them so much at the tournament.

That attitude has been there for many years

Hate to say it but I'm pulling for them. I've developed a relationship with a lot of the staff down there since my playing days and while I hated them when I played -- definitely respect them... Also I think its big for the Big South that they at least make the Super Regional and give South Carolina a series. I'd love for them to make it to Omaha but I feel like its a coin-flip with them and SC.

Kind of a side bar here.... Yes I know Gary Gilmore's salary is the highest of any coach in South Carolina (makes more salary than both Tanner and Leggett...although my understanding is they have better endorsement deals) & its obviously his dream to take CCU to Omaha, but if they don't make it this year I've gotta think its going to be more tempting for him to leave especially with Chance being a senior. This is clearly their best look at it and if this isn't good enough maybe he'll finally accept one of these crazy offers he's been getting from SEC school(s).

As much as we all hate coastal at times they are good for baseball in the conference....and if they come "back to the pack" rather than teams catching up to them...its not good for any schools in the long term.

Coastal trails 11-6 in a rain delayed 5th inning. The Citadel is beating South Carolina 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th.. Things are getting interesting in South Carolina...

I won't be surprised at all if they lose to CofC. I'm trying to say this as politely as possible, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of those guys really thought that CofC had their number and they had to play perfect, etc. It's the same thing our coaches made our players feel when we played Coastal.

Coastal just won it on a home run in the bottom of the ninth 8-7. The 2 teams will play again on Monday night for the change to go to the super regionals.

Slugfest early. 6-4 Charleston, with Charleston coming up in the fourth. Coastal just robbed of homer by great catch.
