For most of America, the news that Jose Lima had passed away today probably didn't even raise an eyebrow. But for those who had a chance to experience his personality, it is sad indeed.

This def hit me because his enthusiasm caught my eye as a younger fan. Used to love him. Not to mention we used his face for the Hillcat pitcher in O'Charley's

You would be surprised, it happens more often than you think.

A guy who had his best year in '99, one year after the home run race, dies of a massive heart attack at age 37. Hummm.

Still sad to see him gone. He was a great character on the diamond. I actually got a chance to meet him a few years ago when he played for the Tides.

I remeber a game when he was with KC where he went out talked to the pitcher on the mound instead of letting the manager pull the pitcher. The guy on the mound proceded to blow it, but I loved his passion for the game and his desire to see his teammates succeed.

There have been a slew of discussions that he was probably in his Mid '40s instead of the 37 he had listed. We are talking about the Dominican after all.
