Yeah yeah, let's make fun of Lunardi because he already put out his bracketology for next year. CCU gets the nod for the Big South, most likely because they were the regular season champs. But I'm posting it here because it's the first time I've visually seen a 96 team field.

CCU snatched a 23 seed  Man this would suck.

Not that I'm a fan of an expanded bracket, not by any means, however I will say some of those hypothetical matchups look intriguing and could be good games to watch.

However, a 23-seed would definitely suck. Fortunately for them, they would be playing Virginia Tech, not exactly a basketball powerhouse.

Well itd certainly take some of the magic out of a 16 beating a 1 to be sure

if a 24 managed to beat a 1 though it would be so much better then a 16 beating a 1

that is true...although theyd have to beat a 9 and then an 8 seed to even get that matchup

The NCAA has done a TERRIBLE thing by expanding the bracket! What a horrible idea!

Seems to be more of a way to get more of the big conference teams into the tourney. I'd guess we'll see more upsets- teams like Belmont are likely to beat some of the lower power conference teams; heck, back in the day, Winthrop would have made more of a name for themselves with a bracket like this.

I don't like it at all, but it does certainly improve the odds of a team from a conference like the big South to make a mini-run. A 24 seed facing a 9 seed is so much more winnable than a 16 vs 1 there is no comparison, and if you pull the upset, you get an 8 seed in the second round. If you have just beaten a 9, it would not be a huge stretch to think you could follow it up by beating an 8.
