John Beilein announces changes in U-M staff
On Friday, Beilein announced that associate head coach Jerry Dunn and assistant John Mahoney are leaving the staff and Jeff Meyer, who began the season as an administrative assistant and took over as an assistant when Dunn left the team for “personal family reasons,” would be a full-time assistant coach.

That leaves one vacancy, which Beilein said he plans to fill.

Meyer was recently a staff assistant from 2001-2008 with stops at Butler, Missouri and Indiana and was a 16-year head coach at Liberty prior to that.

I'm pretty sure I asked this some time back and people said he was already an assistant b/c I heard he was not at the time.

During his 30-year tenure in college basketball he has registered a 551-357 (.606) overall record and been to nine NCAA Tournament (one Final Four and one Sweet 16) and four National Invitation Tournament (NIT) appearances.

Beilein is in trouble. Not a stable job for Meyer at this point.

There are only a handful of stable jobs ... I wonder if Jeff if watching his old colleague Brad Stevens has stoked his fires to be the man at a mid-major once again.

That first sentence is so true Sly.

Something tells me that, divine calling or not, Richie will be a head coach again before Jeff is. At 50 something, I think JM has found a comfort level as a high major assistant.

I'm with you, Olldflame: every time an ACC school has an opening (i.e., Clemson & Wake), I wonder if Ritchie is dusting off his resume' and sending it their way.
