Sometimes I think we should just make this continent our country. But then I remember that Canadians and Mexicans would then be Americans.

I nominate this for a possible POTY award.

No doubt it is soccer. I absolutely love seeing the Tri-Colores fans around me hyperventilating every time we beat them and laugh at them that we don't care.
The Canadians players for the most part all live among us as NHLers and their kids will all be suiting up for Team USA 15-20 years from now.

Losing to the Canadians in hockey is not a big deal. It's their sport, and they're the best.
Mexico is just one of about 30 wannabe soccer countries where they are crazy about the sport, but really aren't that good. We are as good as or better than Mexico even though soccer is a second or third tier sport here. I hate losing to them.

It's not about the sports chuckleheads. It's about losing to our loser neighbors in their respective sports.

I don't pay attention to soccer, so it had to be losing to Canada. Even though it's a bit like the US beating Cuba in international baseball -- Canada winning is expected, US winning would have been a big deal, especially to Canadians.

most people could give 2 flying craps about those 2 sports though. its like mexico beating us in a "see how many people we can fit in a ford fiesta" contest and canada beating us in a "who wears more flannel" contest....we are going to lose but we don't care because its not important.

"We are going to lose" applies to Canada (probably 9 times out of 10) but IMHO not so much where Mexico and soccer are concerned. Mexico's fans are obnoxious. They are so obsessed (including all the ones living in the US, legally or otherwise), and make such a big deal about beating us that it's a national fiesta if they win and an occasion to fire their coach if we beat them. They can't accept the fact that even though only a small % of the american population gives a rip about soccer we are still as good or better than they are.
