He'll shatter the record if he keeps scoring in the 27-30+ range per season. Matter of fact, Carmelo Anthony also has a shot to do it quicker than Kobe too.

Before thrd gets stuck on kobes shorts and this becomes a how awaome Kobe is thread I'm going to say he's getting old and is not and never was the greatest player in the leauge at any point in his career while he was and is a great player, he does not deserve the goat title. That is all. Proceed

We've discussed this before, haha. But yeah, if you for some reason don't consider MJ the GOAT, then you definitely can't say Kobe is.

no way. watch footage of wilt playing. the era does nothing for his claim to GOAT. the man couldn't hit a shot outside of the paint...

Why go take lower percentage shots when you can dominate in the post with high percentage shots? That would be illogical.

of course not. but that doesnt' make you the best ever. he was just an overpowering presence like a shaq. he didn't put up 50/25 because he was a better basketball player...he did it because he was above and beyond the largest player in the game at that time. he'd be hakeem olajuwon in todays game (except he'd be the worst free throw shot in the league). but i can't fault him for the era he played in so he's in my top 5. but he doesnt' come close to best ever.

I think that is skewed thinking to say that he isn't even close. And you're right, you can't blame the guy for what era he was playing in.

never said kobe was the GOAT... never said MJ was either though.... i think Kobe is one of the greatest players to play in this era, just based off numbers most would agree with that....
i have always believed that Pistol Pete was the GOAT.... no one could touch him, and he was doing things that people weren't even thinking of even now....
so yea, but i mean give credit where its due, Kobe got to 25,000 which no matter what, if you hate him or if you love him, you have to admit that its impressive and to be the youngest guy to do it is also quite a milestone....

Rule Change.
Mike, Wilt and Kareem were all above 28,000 points through season 13. Karl Malone was over 26000 as well. The Big O was close to 26000
25000 is a milestone and everyone know he'll finish as one of the best of all time. But lets not think Kobe has been a better scorer simply because he got there first.

Yea i don't think he is a better scorer, just a great accomplishment... i mean as stated before lebron and carmelo will both break that record on the pace they have set....

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Derrick Rose did it quicker than Kobe as well. He started out the year slow due to an ankle injury, but he's starting to turn into an elite caliber NBA scorer. He's three years ahead of where Kobe was as far as scoring average goes.

NOTICE: it took Wilt Chamberlain 691 games to reach the 25000 mark. It took Kobe over 900 games (forgot the exact number). Don't even try to give Bryant the GOAT title for all you Kobe lovers.
