The GT faithful down here in atlanta are ecstatic about this one. Props to the GT admin for getting this done. they knew who they wanted and they went after him. Good hire IMO. UGA had an equally good hire in Dallas cowboys d-line coach todd grantham.

agreed FFG. very average head coach, but a good coordinator. i hope the two egos of johnson and groh can work though

they were talking about it on 680 the fan yesterday. they won't really talk. they'll say hi as they walk by but groh will do his thing with the D. and Paul will do his thing with the O. I don't think there will be a problem. it will essentially be like having two head coaches. one for O one for D. and when one is on the field that coach is in charge.

That's fine when everything's going well, but we'll see how it works if/when the defense consistently struggles. Bottom line is that Johnson has the HC title, and the entire team philosophy is his. No head coach is entirely hands-off, untill of course, he's fired.

I'm intrigued to see how this works...
