NEW YORK -- The NBA has suspended the Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas indefinitely.
"Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game," commissioner David Stern said in a statement Wednesday. "Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA."

The bolded part is interesting.
You bet the Wizards are trying to void that ridiculous $111 million dollar deal Arenas signed.

I read with some sort of suspension, not sure what kind, that his contract can be voided.

what the heck took so long? if the nba wants to get rid of this image that they are all just a bunch of thugs they should've acted much more quickly with this...
I for one am a fan of the nba and think the product that is out there today is much better then it was a few years ago, but with the image problems they have had whether its racially motivated or not, is something they have struggled with for a long time now and they could've gone a long way in acting quickly and swiftly with this decision...instead it took days and the media talking about it everyday for them to do something...thats just dumb

His suspension was based primarily on the way he reacted after the story became public.

I think this whole thing is a big ridiculous over-reaction. People are making way too big a deal of what happened.

He was illegally caring a gun and then pulled it on a teammate...and then made one continuous joke about it. He deserves every second of that suspension.

I'm sure you would go jumping for joy if someone pulled a gun on you, yes?

According to most of the reports, he didn't pull a gun on anyone. It was the other guy who had a loaded gun, no Arenas. Of course Arenas was wrong, but all the gasping and wide eyes I'm seeing is just kind of ridiculous. This is all anti-gun, not anti-thug/idiot. Where's Matshark to agree with me?

Anti-gun? Karl Malone is a member of the NRA and owns a bunch of guns himself. Prior to the punishment being handed down, Malone even he said David Stern needed to make an example of Arenas.

I mean, it's a big deal to bring guns into the work place....but I still think it was something that could have been settled in house...then he goes out acting like an idiot pointing guns with his fingers and twitter comments....that made it bigger then it should have been
