CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.
Police say Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.
Away from the team because of a broken forearm, Henry was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after being found on a residential road. Police say a dispute began at a home about a half-mile away, and Henry jumped into the bed of the truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.
Police said at some point when she was driving, Henry "came out of the back of the vehicle."
Henry is engaged to Loleini Tonga, and the couple has been raising three children. Tonga's MySpace page identifies herself as "Mrs. C. Henry" and has a picture of her next to a person who appears to be Henry. She also has a post from Tuesday talking about buying wedding rings.
Neighbor Karen Clanton said the Tonga family lives in the house where the police say the incident began, adding that she didn't witness it and that "they're nice folks."
There were tire tracks on the front lawn Wednesday.
Henry broke his left forearm Nov. 8 during a win over Baltimore. He had surgery and was placed on season-ending injured reserve following the game. Charlotte is home to Tonga's parents.
The Bengals (9-4) lead the AFC North and play host to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday

Really a sad story. He really seemed to have turned his life around this past year. He was playing well, staying out of trouble, and was going to get married soon. I just can't help but think if he hadn't broken his arm, he'd be with the team instead. Hopefully his fiance doesn't end up in jail so she can take care of their kids.

Different scenario entirely, but perhaps not totally cooincidental that Shawn Taylor was also killed while home with an injury. It seems for some of these guys being with the team provides an atmosphere of discipline that keeps them from doing as many stupid things.
Sad for the children, but if the evidence shows that she knew he was back there and drove in such a way as to deliberately shake him off................ she should do time.

Sean Taylor was shot by kids trying to rob his house. I wouldn't call sleeping in your own bed a bad thing.

It's tragic that this happened, but c'mon, did he expect to get through what he did uninjured? He jumped into the back of a moving truck when his fiance was driving away ticked off at him. What did he think would happen?

I said it wasn't the same, but Taylor's death also involved some very poor judgement. He knew the house had been broken into not long before while he was away, but the only security precaution he took was to have a machete by the bed.

You can't be serious. Taylor's death was nothing of his own doing.
However, what kind of woman drives away when her fiance' falls off the back of a moving truck?

With the details that are coming out, it appears that she may have feared for her own well-being which is why she was trying to get away in the first place. If someone is crazy enough to jump into the back of a moving vehicle, who knows what else they're capable of in that moment. It's hard to judge her for driving off if she felt her life was being threatened by him being in the back of the truck.

When you mad or upset, you do things you regret. When you're scared, you'll say just about anything to get out of it. Unless there are honest witnesses, who knows what the heck really happened.

yeah they had just bought their wedding rings. They got in an argument and she took off. That doesn't mean she was scared.

What I meant was, she was mad during the altercation and did something she regrets. Now she's scared, and most people will say anything to keep from going to jail.

can't say that i'm surprised. not the way i thought he'd go but this guy was such scum bag most of his life, major injury or death was in his cards.
hate to see anyone die without knowing their heart. hope he really was "turning" it around but jumping into a truck while your wife is trying to get away doesn't seem to be "turning it around" for me.
but anyway, people die everyday leavign their family nothing.
this is a tragedy ->

Yes, nobler people have died. Thanks for the analysis.
