As they say in the world of NASCAR, who do you like? (pics on the website below). My money's on the king/queen combo mascot.

They also list the mascots that didn't make the cut--including a composite of alums Thomas Jefferson & James Madison.

With William & Mary's hot start to the season making them newly relevant in Atlantic 11 circles, it seems we should take a quick look at the school's five mascot finalists, revealed today: The Griffin, the King and Queen, the Phoenix, the Pug and the Wren.

Out of the terrible options they've selected, it's gotta be the Wren.

Is that John Stewart in the banner at the top of that page?

edit you might have to refresh a few times to see what I'm talking about because there's a few different banners it cycles through.

Well, the file name is jonstewart.jpg so I guess so.

They have 2 founding fathers as alum but they feature Jon Stewart at the top.

Worse Mascots I've ever ever seen... I like the "idea" of the king and queen, but they look like they just came out of Shrek...

I think they would really really like to be the Monarchs given the name of the school, but I guess you could consider that taken.

I want to know which genius suggested "Bricky the Brick."

The Phoenix was alright, but other than that, those would be the biggest embarrassment in the history of...... well, the history of all mascots.

After reading the article and seeing the five options I think W&M's best bet is to hope for another fire.

I think in honor of their male homecoming queen, calling W&M the "Queens" is the only acceptable solution. Finally, we won't have the worst nickname in all of Division I.

My pick

The King and Queen need a third partner like a Jester. So you have a representative of a guy, a girl, and a ze.

I'd say they are quite deserving of the King & Queen (and a ze). They're so confused they don't know what they are. What do you expect from a liberal school. Some of their former alums would be rolling over in their graves. (Gonna throw out there that Jefferson advocated castration as punishment for sodomy and rape... wonder how he'd get along with the current student body?)
