Heisman, who you got?

Everyone's got their candidates, and it seems everyone has their own criteria as to what the award actually means. Here are mine, in no particular order:
CJ Spiller
Toby Gerhart
Colt McCoy
Mark Ingram
Ndamukong Suh
Mardy Gilyard (yeah, I know, but I really love this guy)
I'd have a tough time picking one, but I'd probably go with Spiller.

McCoy will win. Gerhart probably should.

Suh...only the second defensive player to win it. The Heisman should go to the best collegiate player in the country. PERIOD. I don't care who he plays for.

Ingram is a very good back, but not Heisman calibre IMHO. He is mainly a product of his O-line. The award clearly states it is for "The best college football player in America." When asked who that is, almost EVERYONE says Suh, yet he is a long shot at best. That's stupid. They either need to give serious consideration to all players or change the criteria for the award to reflect what it is; which right now means "the best college QB, RB, or WR/kick returner in America."

aren't most good backs a product of their line? I mean some can do more with less..but if you don't have a good line it doesn't matter what kind of back you have

It's pretty much unpossible for a defensive lineman to win it. It's silly to even consider.

Ingram may benefit for the what have you done for me lately. Of course in the regular season finale, he rolled up a whopping 30 yards and was relegated to backup duty.
Suh is unquestionably the best player in the country and he'd have have my vote.
I have a very tough time voting for Gerhart considering he plays for a bad team so how could he be THAT great.
Top QB Candidates:
Keenum ... 5449 Yds Passing on 71.0% with 43 TDs & 9 INTs + 132 Yds Rushing with 4 TDs
McCoy ..... 3512 Yds Passing on 70.5% with 27 TDs & 12 INTs + 348 Yds Rushing with 3 TDs
Moore ..... 3325 Yds Passing on 64.8% with 39 TDs & 3 INTs + 1 TD Run
Tebow .... 2413 Yds Passing on 65.2% with 18 TDs & 5 INTs + 859 Yds Rshing with 13 TDs
Top RB Candidates:
Gerhart ... 1775 Yds Rushing (5.6) for 26 TDs + 10 Catches for 149 Yds
Ingram .... 1429 Yds Rushing (6.5) for 12 TDs + 28 Catches for 246 Yds with 3 TDs
Spiller ..... 1145 yds Rushing (5.9) for 11 TDs + 33 Catches for 445 Yds with 4 TDs + 1 Punt Ret TD + 4 KO Ret TDs
Top WR Candidates:
Gilyard .... 80 Catches for 1150 Yds with 11 TDs + 5 Carries for 16 Yds with 1 TD + 1 Punt Ret TD + 2 KO Ret TDs
Shipley ... 106 Catches for 1363 Yds with 11 TDs + 2 Punt Ret TDs

Oh boy, I hope you're right...but I'm afraid after Saturday's performance it will be Ingram. Mel Kiper gave me a little hope for Colt when he said he thought some would "make-up" vote for Colt after last year...(not that Bradford didn't deserve it, but since it should have been Colt playing in the Big 12 championship and the national title game then he would have earned it)...

A bad team? 8-4, #23 in the country? You could make a case for the Pac-10 being the 2nd best conference overall this season. I wouldn't be so quick to label them a bad team.

Best player - Suh hands down.
My pick under the Heisman paradigm - Spiler

Official wording of what the award is for: "The most outstanding player in collegiate football". All I am saying is that regardless of the history of who has won it in the past, if only certain positions are going to be considered, they need to change that wording. This would not be the first time that there has been a player who didn't play one of the "skill" positions who was considered. Linebacker/DE Hugh Green of Pittsburgh actually finished second in the voting his Senior year. IMHO Suh is clearly the most outstanding player, and under that definition should win.

mc coy wont win because of his performance saturday against nebraska. not that im saying he should not win, because it should be the whole body of work. the media will probably go with ingram. and sly to say gerhart plays on a bad team is insane. agreed with TD that the Pac-10 could arguably be the 2nd best conference in the country.

Will win: Mark Ingram
Should win: Toby Gerhart
Dark Horse who will end up probably doing better than the winner in the NFL: Mardy Gilyard
Wont make NY but should: CJ Spiller. (He could be a star in the league himself)

since it's an offense only award, basically, I'd ahve to say CJ Spiller should win it. There's not a single more explosive player in college football today. Mark Ingram will probably get ti though, his domination of Florida pretty much wrapped it up most likely.

That kid with the weird name that i can't pronounce or that smart kid that goes to the school with a christmas tree mascot. those two should get the most attention. Spiller is next in line and so help me if ingram wins it or mccoy wins it i'll throw something. Honestly Keenum is a better QB over all than colt. and ingram got benched in the auburn game. he doesn't even deserve to be considered in with the likes of herschel walker.

While I hadn't seen Suh play all year, he may be the most dominating player I have seen at the college level in some time...what a player!! That being said, I believe that Colt McCoy will and deserves to win the Heisman based on what he has done throughout the season. The pressure he has faced and week in and week out while taking the team on his back has been great. Also, I discount some of his average performance versus Nebraska to Suh and the NU defense. There couldn't have been a better defense to play against in preparation for the Alabama's defense.

mccoy was an instant replay away from completing the bonehead play of the decade. heisman caliber players don't show such a supreme lack of awareness of the clock and situation to the point where they have to rely on a replay to win the Big 12 Title and secure a spot in the national championship game.

I want Spillar to win it, Suh should win it, but Ingram will probably win it. Really don't want to see that happen, but it probably will
McCoy killed himself in the Big 12 championship game. Not a good game at all, and came .2 seconds from seeing his national title hopes disappear.

Big shock ... hating on the Longhorn and giggling like schoolgirls over a return man from the ACC.
I was glad to see Suh get an invite to NYC. With no clear cut favorite it'd be awesome if enough voters made the right call.

I don't understand how Tebow is a finalist. His stats aren't even close to what they were when he won 2 years ago. Spiller should have gotten his spot among the 5 finalists.

Tebow has been the darling of ESPN for 12 months. Heisman voters get deluged by the Tebow spin so much that it is hard not for them to be influenced.
And yes, 8-4 is not great by any team's standards that should have a Heisman candidate on their roster. And Pac-10 is an offensive league. It is sort of like VMI scoring in hoops ... you take it with a grain of salt. And yes, I watched plenty of Pac-10 & MWC football being in this time zone.
