Not really a fight, more like one dirty player getting away with some serious cheap shot.

Holy Crap. If i was the BYU coach i would have subbed one of my scrubs to go in and take her out by any means neccesary.

How do the refs completely miss all of that activity. yeah, I know it is a large pitch but if BYU players are dropping like flies around her you would think she would come under more scrutiny.

The refs were probably like, "man, we've got to ref a soccer game? that sucks. oh wait, its WOMEN'S soccer?? now it really sucks. let's get this over as soon as possible."

Forget about the other coach retaliating. Her own coach should have pulled her out, and she needs to be suspended at least a game based on the video evidence.

I just can't believe a ref never stopped the game for any of that. It looked like an entertaining game though.

I have to say, if women's soccer was more like that, they'd draw better ratings. Ticket sales would be through the roof.

hs girls soccer is generally always like this.

we have a friend who is on the girls soccer team here at our local college...we go every once in a while...the chickies are smoking 90% of the time.

anyway, that video is super hot.

urban meyer would only suspend that chick for half a game though.

If I was the NM coach she would automatically sit out the next game. Also would have told her continue like this and you are off the team. I don't mind rough play,just not the over the line cheating cheap shots like this

New Mexico women's soccer defender Elizabeth Lambert has been suspended indefinitely after engaging in rough play -- including hauling an opposing player to the ground by her pony tail -- in the Lobos' 1-0 loss to BYU in the Mountain West Conference semifinals.

Lambert is prohibited from taking part in practices, games and conditioning, coach Kit Vela announced Friday.

"Liz is a quality student-athlete, but in this instance her actions clearly crossed the line of fair play and good sportsmanship," Vela said.

i dont know what was better/worse, when she pulled the girl down by the pony tail or when she kicked the ball right in the chicks face as shes laying on the ground from like 2 ft away and the ref had whistled. Talk about kicking someone while they are down, geeze.

They need to get that chick into therapy. She's got issues.

This girl is a junior in college and if she's like every other female soccer player out there has probably been playing since she was a tyke. Apparently nothing like this has happened before. What I saw in the video was extremely impaired impulse control and an apparent lack of awareness that she had done anything wrong. She is at the age when a number of different mental illnesses are most likely to have their onset. She absolutely should be assessed by a mental health professional.

those refs, the New Mexico head coach, and Lambert should be suspended for quite a lengthy amount of time for missing six red cards on her. What Lambert did was 100% inexcusable, but the refs and the coach letting basically all of it go by without even a single foul all is nothing short of gross negligence.

She got a yellow for smashing that girls face with the ball. I found the whole thing fairly entertaining.

She actually got the card for the tripping...the other chick kicked the ball into her face

i've never pulled someone down by their hair but all that other stuff? yeah quite frequently and i'd rarely be carded for it. this is HS soccer i'm talking about but nonetheless.

watching that video brought back the memories.

I cleated a guy when he was down in HS once. Pay back for him intentionally breaking my ribs the first game of the season. You know what they say about payback... she plays for New Mexico.

If I were the BYU coach, i'd have sent somebody in there to permanently remove her from the game. cleats to the head optional. no excuse for Lambert's actions and if the refs won't protect the players, the players need to take a little soccer field justice to protect their own. That head whip was just brutal. You could get judo tossed and not land that hard.

we've not been able to match quincy's soccer talent for decades...my only hs ejection came in quincy... those douchebags kept blocking me in on corner kicks (goalie) and i slipped in between 2 of them and gave them fairly hard and what i thought inconspicuous nutshots...apparently not...they both were lying on the ground and i'm going "whaaa??" ....good times.
