In a bad 1 car accident. His passenger died and he's undergone surgery with more to come I think.
US secured themselves in the WC already but I've got to wonder if he'll be there or ever playing soccer again. Huge downer, obviously for him but also for the team as he seemed to be the most dangerous person on offense, on a team with little.

Broken tibia and femur - he's out for the World Cup.
Did you see the pictures of the car?

No, I just heard the story. 1 car accident usually means you were drunk and deserved it. Although, if that's the case he could also be going to jail since somebody died. I guess Altidor better step up. And shave a half-second off of his 40 time.

He wasn't the driver. There were two others in the car.

Yeah, Charlie and the girl that died were both passengers. Although, he was breaking the team curfew. From what they're saying, it will take over a year for him to fully recover.
It sucks for the team because he was pretty much their speed and was constantly in an opportune position on the field (but didn't always take advantage of those opportunities).

Welp, Altidore missed chance after chance to score. And Onyewu went down a couple of minutes ago and he was acting like it was really bad. And not in the normal soccer player drama way. We are screwed. Maybe somebody like Adu will develop by 2014.

.... And then they tie it up in the 94th minute. They still look horrible.

I turned it off at halftime.

It wasn't just Altidore who missed chances, they had about 4 or 5 point-blank shots on goal with no defender in front of them and couldn't score. I actually think Altidore played very well. US players have always gotten butterflies in their stomachs as soon as they get anywhere near the goal, we just have never had a natural scorer. There are too many problems to really list about this team, but the World Cup will be fun regardless.

I caught a brief snippet on SportsCenter this morning that Onyewu tore a tendon in his knee and was out 3-4 months.

I think the WC is 8 months away. So he should be back in shape by then. There's a sigh of relief.

I believe he is referring to the World Cup, not the "water closet".
