Hot Duke prospect gets too-warm welcome
DURHAM Duke's students apparently welcomed basketball prospect Kyrie Irving a bit too enthusiastically last weekend during his official visit.
Student-made signs welcoming Irving were removed by Duke's NCAA compliance personnel to prevent the school from running afoul of NCAA rules, Duke associate athletics director Jon Jackson confirmed.
The interpretation requires a school that becomes aware of such activity to take steps to stop it. That's why Duke removed signs and also posted requests on Duke-related Internet message boards asking students to quit hanging signs.I think they resemble the US in a sense that there's just a lot of useless bureaucracy that doesn't really make any practical sense. Why on earth could a student not make a sign? Can anybody give me a scenario where that would violate anything on this page?
