Man, it is going to be weird seeing him not in a braves uniform as he has been the manager ever since i began following the braves (i'm 21), and while i will be extremely sad to see him go next year i think it will be a good change of pace for the team. I don't want to see Terry Pendleton become the next manager, i just hope Frank Wren and Jon Schurholtz make the right decision and that the braves don't become one of those teams that starts firing managers ever 3 seasons. I have a feeling that next year or the year after will be chippers last year as well.

This is a Mets fan speaking...

Cox is certainly one of the greatest managers of our time (I think it's funny that the National League is so far inferior to the American League, yet boasts the best managers -- Cox, LaRussa, Torre, Pinella).

He'll be remembered for his fiery temper, multiple pennants, yet only one world championship.

The baseball world is losing a great one.

Is it possible to think Bobby Cox underachieved during his stint as Braves skipper? All of those great teams, in a terrible division, with some of the best pitching staffs of all time and only one championship to show for it?

I think Bobby has a place as one of the best managers of all-time but I'm not so sure he's the legend everyone is going to crown him to be.

TD Dance,
were you listenin to 'the Herd' this mornin/afternoon? If not thats what Colin said, that cox was a great manager but that he underachieved, and he doesn't understand how baseball managers get such a short leash.

big braves fan and i will miss bobby, but maybe it's time. he will go down as one of the greatest managers in baseball regardless of only winning one title. bobby did not make the bad pitch or go into batting slumps. with all the young talent, maybe he can go out a winner next year!

The Braves were left for dead a couple of weeks ago, but now they are setting up Bobby for a great final year in 2010 by making a huge push for the playoffs in 09. They now have won 14 of their last 16 and trail the Rockies by only 2 1/2 for the wild card.
