In no order...
MJ, Kobe, Russell, Shaq, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Tim Duncan, Bird, Hakeem
I said in no order, but that's pretty close to the order for me... it changes daily tho.

10 is too difficult. i'd end up having a list with like 20 people tied for 10th. while nat holman and joe lapchick wouldnt thrive at all in today's game, to name a couple examples, the monumental impact they had on the game back in the 1920's is undeniable.

How can it change daily, has Kareem been lighting it up on a nightly basis, to sway your vote?
Top 10, Starting Lineup:
C - Wilt Chamberlain
PF - Bill Russell
SF - Larry Bird
SG - Michael Jordan
PG - Magic Johnson
BENCH
C - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
PF - Tim Duncan
SF - Elgin Baylor
SG - Kobe Bryant (over LeBron James, for the time being)
PG - Bob Cousy
Apologies to Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal, Pete Maravich, and Oscar Robertson.

I would definately take the Big O over Cousey, and possibly over Bird on my first team. That's a tough call.

If you're gonna go all positional, you can't make Russell a power forward just to fit him on your team, that's called cheating.

Russell is a C indeed. Switch out Russell for Karl Malone if you want to keep it positional.

It's my list and I can do whatever the heck I want. So cram it.

If you are doing an "all-time greats" team, I don't think you go by "position". Those 1-5 roles/slots are more a fabrication of college recruiting gurus than a reflection of the reality on the court anyway.
Chamberlain
Russell
Jordan
Robertson
Magic
Yeah, that's 3 "guards", but they average like 6'7 between them, and all of them could match up defensively and on the boards with any small forward in the league (and of course dominate on offense.)
Larry Bird was a GREAT player, but IMHO, the Big O is just a notch above him.

Open up a "best college basketball player" discussion & I'm all over it...although some of these players will be on that list, as well.

I think we've done of those before...but I can't remember. However, that list begins and ends with Christian Laettner (...just for you).

I loved Pistol Pete, and he was an amazing college player, but his pro career didn't measure up to the others on that list.

I mainly put him up there because of college, but also because he was a pioneer to streetball and the fancy highlight dribbling and passing

for not 'matching up' he did pretty well for himself in the NBA. Had he not had knee troubles he would have played longer as well. and had the NBA not screwed him he would have won at least 1 ring. He had Dr. J on his team for some exhibition games and they dominated. unfortunately the NBA moved him to Phila.
and i dont really have to talk about his collegiate stuff. i mean 44 ppg, nuff said.
