A Sea Of Red

Last week, we learned a miraculous, and yet, heart-wrenching story... A young girl who was kidnapped 18 years ago was found to be alive. The terrible, tragic part of the story is that she was kept in a shed as a sex slave for 18 years, being raped and impregnated by a pedophile.

Well, some a-hole columnist decided to have a little fun and tell the young girl what she's missed over the last two decades, essentially saying that the worst part of her ordeal was missing "Beach Towel Night" at the ballpark.

Wow. I'm guessing the editor has been wanting to get rid of this guy. No way this could have gone through another person and got the OK.

Eh, it's not that big a deal in my opinion. It's all done in jest and probably a bit of poor taste. I don't think the guy should get canned for it. I was entertained.

See thats the problem, journalists dont seem to think they have any responsibility for what they write...

I agree. Definitely in poor taste, but i've seen much worse in newspapers before.

I'm open for other nominees if you want to put them forth, but until then, 'Dude Makes Light of a Girl's 18-Years in Torment' takes the blue ribbon for 'Worst Sports Column Ever' in my book.

the kicker is, it was a pretty stupid column without the poor taste. No substance here at all. Just things that everybody already knows who has been around for the past 20 years. Must be nice to be able to whip up a worthless column in 10 minutes when you have a deadline coming up and clock out at 2pm.
