Seton Hall big man Mike Davis has transferred out and will be going to Coastal Carolina, according to a report on carolinalive.com.

The 6-11 Davis, who was to have been a junior, played two seasons for the Pirates, mostly coming off the bench for coach Bobby Gonzalez's club. He played in 30 games in 2008-09, starting five, and averaging 10.5 minutes, 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Davis, a Brooklyn native, averaged 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 31 games as a freshman in 2007-08, and was a member of the Big East Acacemic All-Star team. He will have to sit out the 2009-10 season, and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he suits up in 2010-11.

They have also signed a great talent from Petersburg, Va. and I think they are going to be a lot better then people think.

When they had Buzz Peterson, Coastal was the only team in the league that consistently (key word being consistently) gave Gregg Marshall fits.

They don't have Buzz Peterson anymore and the guy they do have can't seem to keep anyone in the program for more than two years.

And when he does, don't expect a lot. Less than 3 points a game at Seton Hall is not impressive.

Seton Hall bust or not, he's still 6'11" in the Big South. Kenny G at UNCA could barely lurch down the court but he was still a factor in conference play. This is a pretty good pickup for Le Chant.

There's a big difference between 6'11" and 7'7"+...I have no idea how good this guy is, but being 6'11" in this league alone doesn't automatically lead to success.

Also true. And like someone said earlier, Seton Hall is not what it used to be. But they are still a Big East school and even the dregs of the Big East should be a factor in the Big South.

Absolutely correct WEF. While we have not had a long history of big stiffs at LU, there have been a few, and if you go back and look at old rosters from UNCA and Radford, you will see plenty of 7 footers who rode the pine. Kenny George was/is a totally different situation. He was so much bigger than anyone else that it was difficult for opponents to adjust to it.

Pretty obvious that you need an inside presence in this league to win it....something Scruggs at G-W can't get through his thick skull. :x

Just because he played at a Big East school means nothing. I've seen a number of big men at ACC schools who have transferred to lower level schools who haven't done much. Maybe he'll be a player, or maybe he'll be a 6'11" stiff. All I know so far is he didn't exactly tear it up at Seton Hall.

Could still possibly get a full or near full scholarship and he'll probably be getting a lot more PT at an NAIA than he would at a D1. It's not like he was going to amount to much at CCU anyways probably or be on the NBA radar. So if you can get your education paid for, might as well go to the school where you can get a lot of PT as long as the school fits academically.
